Empire
Chronicles: Space Slug |
The Official Star Wars Site has
provided the latest Empire Chronicles and it features the Space Slug. The space
slug, whose exterior we see for all of a few seconds in The Empire Strikes
Back, is probably one of the most memorable life forms introduced in the
saga's first sequel, trumped only by the surprise revelation of a little green
Jedi Master.
The entire asteroid-crater-turned-space-worm scene actually
came together with just a few props and an improvised set, enhanced with some
select sound effects, editing, and musical score. When combined, the sequence
provides a necessary reprieve from the driving action of the asteroid chase, and
a rare opportunity for Han and the Princess to share a romantic moment in the
Falcon's hold. Be sure to read the entire article which features parts of interviews,
behind-the-scenes elements, and discussions.

Young Boba Fett
Confirmed...Again |
USAToday has confirmed to the general public news that young
Boba Fett will be in The Clone Wars. We figured this out back at February's 2010
Toy Fair. (See Monday February 15th Article) At that time we were unsure
of the date we would see Boba's return, but now we learn that he will be
featured in the April 23rd episode and the April 30th season finale. We last saw
the child Boba (played by Daniel Logan, who voices the character in The Clone
Wars cartoon) utterly alone, staring contemplatively into the face of his
slain father's helmet. What does he want in the animated series? "If there's one
word: revenge," Logan says. I am sure these episodes are going to rock! The
Clone Wars TV Series has been a great ride and gets better from week to week. Be
sure to read the entire article.

JediNet.com To
Close For Good? |
Today I
noticed that one of the Internet's oldest Star Wars sites had gone down. After a
little research, it seems that the domain name expired this weekend and has not
been renewed. Is this the end for this once great site? JediNet has been serving
the Internet community since at least 1997 and has the popular slogan "For the
Fans, By the Fans."
Back in its hay day, JediNet was one of the three biggest Star Wars sites. At
least in my opinion. There was the Official Star Wars website, TheForce.net, and
Jedinet. A few years ago, the site went from a webmaster content driven site to
being set up to be updated by the fans as a last ditch effort to keep the name
alive. Since that time, there have been very intermittent updates. JediNet does
have a Facebook and Twitter page, and no information as to a site closure has been
shared on those pages as of yet.
JediNet also had a close call back in May of 2001 and was in danger of
closing their doors. Here is a quote from one of our old reports:
"It's a very sad day here at JediNet.com. After over five years of
reporting Star Wars news, events, and providing multimedia and entertainment to
fans across the world, it seems as if JediNet.com will be shutting its
doors." May 2001
Is JediNet gearing up for a new host and a new look, or is this just the end
of the site as we know it? If the latter is true, I hate to see the old site go,
but truly it essence has been gone for a long time now.
Update:
JediNet is back up and running again at least for another year. |
