ShipsYT-1930 Transport
The ubiquitous YT line of freighters was one of the most successful series of space transports ever developed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Dozens of examples can be found throughout the galaxy. Although the YT-1300 is the most famous design, other YT designs may actually be somewhat superior. The YT-1930 was released just prior to the Battle of Yavin and is regarded by many as the pinnacle of the YT series, but was only moderately successful and it never gained the popularity of the YT-1300. It looks very similar to the YT-1300, but the cockpit has been realigned to sit in between and just above the cargo mandibles. There are also two large wedge-shaped sections at the rear of the ship with the drive engines situated between them that grant the YT-1930 double the cargo space of the YT-1300. The ship measured 35 meters in length, and required a pilot and co-pilot to operate. It could transport up to six passengers and carry 200 metric tons of cargo with ease. Most YT-1930s cargo spaces do not come equipped with fully functioning life support systems. The saucer section of the ship housed crew quarters, a galley, storage lockers, a holo table, a technical station, and cargo bays.
The YT-1930 has an extended life support system and enough small bunks to comfortably transport six passengers, plus the
pilot and co-pilot. It also has the added security of twin escape pods that are each capable of fitting and sustaining five
people in an emergency. All in all, the YT-1930 is a very solid freighter, surpassing most others of its size with ease. The Blaze of Glory was a modified YT-1930 light freighter owned and operated by the Bimm smuggler Rycar Ryjerd. The Blaze of Glory was at one time docked in Rycar's hidden asteroid base in the Obana Belt. The Starbound Misfit had the same sensors as a stock YT-1300. Owned by Lynnori, it featured a twin heavy laser cannon and a concussion missile launcher. It also had faster primary and backup hyperdrives, faster atmospheric speed and faster sublight speed. The Wild Menagerie was owned by the bounty hunter Zan Ransom, a specialist known for acquiring rare and unusual specimens of exotic creatures from the Outer Rim and Wild Space. His YT-1930 had a vastly improved hyperdrive for traveling to the most far-flung regions of known space. Unlike most space transports, his YT’s cargo space is equipped with a fully functioning life support system, designed for the creature comforts of his living cargo. In addition, because his illegal trade routinely places him in jeopardy with local authorities, he had upgraded his ship’s weaponry with a turreted quad laser cannon and fire control systems as well. Zan added expensive security systems (to keep his precious cargo contained) and a belly gun set to stun (for knocking down large animals) to round out the Wild Menagerie’s modifications.
