R5-J2 was an black-colored R5-series astromech droid assigned by Darth Vader to the second Death Star under construction above the moon of Endor. R5-J2 was a computer maintenance and repair droid and was one of the multitude of droids deployed by the Empire that serviced the first second Death Star. Like all Imperial droids, R5-J2 has a memory inhibitor to protect it from developing a personality. R5-J2 was destroyed in the second Death Star explosion during the Battle of Endor.
