EPIII: Jackson Discusses His Fate

Matthew du Plessis, the PORTAL: Entertainment Editor, had the wonderful opportunity of interviewing Samuel L. Jackson, and he cleared up some recent rumors about the actor's fate in the new movie. Here's a clip from a fantastic interview with our South African friend: Spoilers - Highlight to read:

And again, George Lucas was listening, because as it turns out, Mace Windu goes out in a blaze of glory:

"Yeah it was hard work, a lot harder than before," Jackson told Tiscali's Entertainment Editor in an interview.

"You get what you ask for sometimes, and it's... ah, damn! So, I ended up in Australia, and then I guess I had to rehearse for 8 days before I actually shot it, and learned a 137-move sabre fight. It was crazy."

So who is it that does you in?

"I can't tell you that! Now, that I can't tell you!"

There are rumours floating around the 'Net that Mace gets stabbed in the back by Anakin?

"Nah, it's full frontal".

Ha! Full-frontal lobotomy?

"Yeah!"

EPIII: Hayden Talks Lightsaber Fights

The Toronto Sun has a new interview and article with Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen. Here's a clip and a heads up:

Christensen is eyeing some career detours, but journalism isn't one of them. Though he has a few movie projects on the go -- including a film by Gillian Armstrong, and a spy movie with Robert Duvall and Gary Oldman that would also feature his brother Tove -- he's also hanging on to the idea of chasing an English Lit degree in, appropriately enough, England.

He'll miss the people involved in Star Wars (his younger sister and Lucas' daughter are best friends). But not the acting limitations. "It has an intended audience you can't alienate, so there are only so many places I can go."

Anything else to say about Star Wars: Episode III? "There's an amazing light sabre fight that'll knock people's socks off. Geographically, it covers the most distance of any other swordfight on film. And depending on the way they cut it, it should be the longest swordfight, timewise, that's ever been on film."

Jedi Academy Review for the XBox

GameSpy has one of the (if not the) first reviews of Jedi Academy on the X-Box. Two pages giving it a 4 out of 5 with a multiplayer factor of "Great". Here's an excerpt:

The balance between light and dark isn't very well represented, however. While you can choose to develop the four advanced force powers on either side or mix and match, the game doesn't change if you become a dark Jedi, or even if you're a predominantly good boy who likes to use one of the dark force powers often. The end of the game is the only time your choice has any consequence -- if you're looking for real force tension, it's off to KOTOR you go.
