Why is the Star Wars Fact File...

This report comes from the Official Star Wars Site!
Answered by:
Steve Sansweet

Why is the Star Wars Fact File not available in the U.S.?

The Official Star Wars Fact File from DeAgostini has been very popular in numerous languages around the world, including Japanese, Spanish, French, German, and of course, English. It is a weekly publication that includes sections on battles and events, characters, weapons and technology, planets and locations, droids, and vehicles. Each issue is meant to be pulled apart and then filed in a different order in large binders that occasionally come with that week's Fact File.

While LucasBooks is aware that many American fans would enjoy Fact File, the U.S. also has the most robust Star Wars publishing program in the world. Ballantine Books/Del Rey publishes a wonderful series of Essential Guides, for example. So there is some concern about overloading the market. While there are no current plans to bring Fact File to the U.S., this is one of those things that is constantly evaluated.
