August 2003 Comics

The Official Star Wars Site has provided a look at what Dark Horse Comics has in store for Star Wars fans later this year. The Rebel Alliance has always been short of supplies and soldiers, but the recent mutiny on the Rand Ecliptic has brought several highly skilled pilots into its ranks. Biggs Darklighter and his fellow mutineers are now tasked to "liberate" desperately needed X-wing fighters for the Rebel cause.

Star Wars: Empire #12, the third chapter of the four-part "Darklighter" story arc, is by Paul Chadwick, Doug Wheatley and Chris Chuckry, and features cover art by Kilian Plunkett. It is scheduled for release on August 6.

On the rain-drenched world of Jabiim, a major and messy conflict of the Clone Wars continues. Anakin Skywalker fights alongside the "Padawan Pack," a group of "orphaned" apprentices that have banded together in the war. The Chosen One is ordered to a rear echelon position as the young Padawans must hold an indefensible bulwark against the overwhelming Separatist forces.

The third chapter of the four-part Battle of Jabiim storyline appears in Star Wars: Republic #57, by Haden Blackman and Brian Ching. It features cover art by Tomás Giorello. It is scheduled for release on August 20.

Catch up on the Clone Wars action with the second trade paperback volume reprinting three important stories of the ongoing saga. Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 2: Victories and Sacrifices is 120 pages, spanning missions from the swampy moons of Naboo, to the war-torn cityscape of Brentaal IV. It features the talents of Haden Blackman, John Ostrander, Tomás Giorello, Jan Duursema and Brian Ching. It is scheduled for release on September 3.
