MTV's Real Life
Last night MTV's Real Life featured a topic on Embarrassing Parents. One of the parents was embarrassing his 20 something kid by being a die-hard Star Wars fan. The father had been collecting for years and liked to dress up like a Jedi Knight.
The son just could not seem to understand this obsession with the movie. The son said "It is just a movie!" For some that is true, but others take it very seriously. The father went to Home Depot to buy parts to make a new lightsaber for the upcoming Celebration II. The father invited his son to go to the convention in Indiana. His hopes were to try and get his son to better understand his love for Star Wars.
The son was embarrassed when his father decided to go on the flight dressed as a Jedi. He was even stopped in the airport by people asking to take pictures. At the convention the son learned that there was a Dark Side of the Force and he embraced it! He thought the bad guys were cool and by the end of the day he was even dressed up as a Stormtrooper! What a switch!
I can only hope that my little girl will not be too embarrassed by my collecting, website, and overall love for Star Wars.
