Vanity Fair has a three page
article featuring The Force Unleashed. If you haven't been keeping up with the
development from the beginning, this article will bring you up to speed. Here is
a piece of the article:
And perhaps most important of all, the game has a compelling, movie-like
story line, involving a secret apprentice to Darth Vader and the formation of
the Rebel Alliance, which provides a visual and narrative transition between
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
It is being billed as the "next great chapter" in George Lucas's space saga, one
that, according to the project's art director, Matt Omernick, "aims to convince
players that, 'Oh my God, I'm actually, finally, in a Star Wars movie.'" And not
only that: it will be a Star Wars movie with a life of its own.
Today's new video clip in the Movies Section is from one of your favorite Star Wars

Today's new video clip in the Movies Section is the Fan Film entitled
Broken Allegiance. Broken
Allegiance was released in April of 2002. The film is set in the Star Wars
Universe, taking place a few weeks between the events in A New Hope and The
Empire Strikes Back. It tells the story of two Sith apprentices, Ruan and Calis,
who have escape the Empire by fleeing Coruscant in a stolen transport. They must
fight for their freedom when Darth Vader sends the vicious bounty hunter Korbain
Thor to track them down.
This film is very well done and has great effects! A sequel was originally
planned and had begun production, but one of the cast members received a great
job offer breaking up the team. The film collapsed at that point and the sequel
will not become a reality. You can find this video in the Fan Films
section. Enjoy!
Synthetic Dimensions will soon be releasing this fully
licensed poster that has been converted from the original 2D painting used in
1977 to promote the Star Wars using Synthetic Dimensions' proprietary
Syndimation process.
"To show the depth and detail Syndimation makes possible, we
have prepared the animation running above. Don't be fooled by the competition.
Other posters claiming to be 3D just look like pop-up books with a few flat
layers giving an idea of depth. As you can see, our process results in a truly
deep, 3D scene and allows us to incorporate special effects such as the glow
from the light sabres!"
This unique, deep 3D lenticular poster is 47cm x 67cm (18.5" x
126.5" approx). Be sure to see more at their website!
The Official
Star Wars Site has announced that this July, as the world breathlessly
awaits the release of the new CG animated Clone Wars series, fans and
collectors will get an eyeful of all-new packaging for scores of Clone
Wars products soon to be lining store shelves. "We started with the premise
that Clone Wars is a bold new initiative in Star Wars
entertainment and therefore the packaging needed to convey bold, new and
different," says Lucas Licensing President Howard Roffman. "We took our cue from
clones, since they are central to the stories and are actually very cool
characters in the series, and clones are essentially white." Be sure to read the rest of the article and see more packaging
designs.

According to Kotaku.com,
LucasArts has just confirmed that Jim Ward, longtime Lucas worker bee and
current president of LucasArts, has resigned from the company "for personal
reasons" and will be leaving LucasArts in a couple of weeks.
Ward, who
began his career in advertising, started work at LucasFilm in 1997 as the head
of their marketing division. In 2004 Ward was named president of LucasArts. No
word yet on the reasoning behind his seemingly sudden departure or where he will
land.
In my opinion, it looks like he was allowed to bow out of the job after all
the delays and frustration with the upcoming The Force Unleashed game that has
been pushed back a second time causing it to be released at least a year off
schedule.
