Wizards of the
Coast and Lucasfilm Ltd. Extend Licensing Agreement |
Wizards of the Coast To Continue
Production of Star Wars Product Line
December 27, 2006 (Renton, Wash.) – Leading game developer Wizards of the
Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), today announced, it has
reached an agreement with Lucasfilm Ltd. that will allow the Seattle-based
company to continue producing the highly popular STAR WARS MINIATURES™ and STAR
WARS ROLEPLAYING GAME titles for years to come.
“We are very excited to
continue our relationship with Lucasfilm, as it allows us to build on the proven
success of our Star Wars brands,” said Casey Reeter, vice president of marketing
at Wizards of the Coast. “This deal tells consumers that Wizards of the Coast is
committed to bringing the industry’s best Star Wars games to market.”
The
new agreement allows Wizards of the Coast to develop new products and expansion
sets for its popular STAR WARS MINIATURES game, which now includes the new
STARSHIP BATTLES™ vehicles game, as well as STAR WARS ROLEPLAYING GAME, and all
related game accessories.
The STAR WARS MINIATURES game allows players
to collect and build squads from hundreds of characters from throughout the Star
Wars® universe to compete against another player in head-to-head, skirmish-style
battles. Roleplayers can enjoy the STAR WARS ROLEPLAYING GAME, which sets the
stage for players to create and star in their own chapter of the Star Wars
saga.
“Star Wars celebrates its 30th anniversary next year, which makes
2007 very special for us,” said Derek Stothard, director of toys at Lucas
Licensing. “We are planning some exciting events to commemorate the anniversary,
and, we’re looking forward to working with Wizards of the Coast in this banner
year.”

of the Coast website for the latest in Star Wars gaming

The Art of Ralph
McQuarrie Production Update |
As we prepare to begin accepting
pre-orders for The Art of Ralph McQuarrie on 1/1/07, we wanted to let you know
that we have added a production update page to the dreams and visions press
website.
In our first update, we've posted pictures of the initial binding samples for
each edition so readers will have a visual sense of the size of the book, along
with the illustrated limitation pages for the signed editions (each featuring
art not available elsewhere in the book).
In subsequent production updates we'll be posting images of the finalized
cover art as well as sample interior pages.
Thanks for the continued
support. We wish you all the best in 2007!

Featured Artist
Craig Burt-Painting by Numbers 16 |
Featured Artist Craig Burt has provided us
with a breakdown of one of his paintings that provides us with a look into how
the picture came about. Here is some of the article created by Craig:
"Padmé Power"
This painting was a bit of fun, really. It comes from the days
at Alderaan Online and has our illustrious leader, the man in black (Vader) in
it. It takes a lot of time and effort to run a website, so around that time I
thought it might be a bit of fun for our leader to be in a painting; which he
was thrilled to be. How he survived in the open air without his helmet long
enough to take a photo of himself I don't know!
For those of you who were not around during the "good ole days"
when there were many really high quality Star Wars Fan Websites, Alderaan Online
was one of our strongest affiliate sites and it was the best resource for high
quality Star Wars pictures on the Internet. Craig had his gallery of work there
until Vader (the webmaster) decided to close the site. Craig then allowed
Galactic Voyage to become the new home of his Star Wars art galleries.
Be sure to read the rest of the article about "Padmé
Power" in the Painting by
Numbers section. Thanks Craig for another great walkthrough of how this
image came about! Enjoy! |
