The CC-9600 is the latest iteration of the CC series of capital ships. The CC-9600 was built by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, and this warship was based on the earlier successes of the CC-7700 series. It is also more compact and requires fewer crew members than the previous CC-7700.
While the CC-7700 was primarily a platform for gravity well projectors, the CC-9600 is a pure combat vessel and is more heavily armed. It was designed for direct combat, with upgraded weaponry and shielding. It is also very fast for its size, both in sublight speeds and in hyperspace, making for a formidable warship in its class.
Streamlined for atmospheric operation, it had retractable maneuvering fins which improved stabilization while landing and deploying troops. There is enough cargo and passenger space to accommodate two regiments of ground troops. These vessels were commonly used by the Rebellion during the Galactic Civil War, but have since disappeared almost entirely from service.
