I'm Back!
|
Well, after taking a month off
(coming home from my exchange program in Belgium) I'm back and ready to report
on Star Wars Collecting News.
Just to let you know, it wasn't a complete
break. While in London I checked out the "Star Wars: The Exhibition"....
exhibition at County Hall and that was amazing! They have a life-size N1
Starfighter, various models and props from the saga including R2-D2 and C-3PO,
Boba and Jango Fett, Yoda (!), Podracers, part of the Tatooine podrace seating
miniature and so much more.
If you are in London you should definitely check it out.

Homing Beacon
#193 |
The latest Homing Beacon has
arrived and today we recap Comic-Con. The celebration of Star Wars
continued in one of the venues where it first began: San Diego Comic-Con
International 2007. In the summer of 1976, a little under a year before the
movie would debut, representatives from Lucasfilm put on a slide-show of what
was happening in the universe of Star Wars. It has since become
tradition. Here's a roundup of some of the news that made it to the Official
Star Wars Blog during Comic-Con International.
At the main Lucasfilm presentation, Steve Sansweet invited "Family Guy"
creator Seth McFarlane onto the stage for a brief interview and preview of the
forthcoming Star Wars-themed "Family Guy" episode coming at the start of
the next season. "Star Wars and pop culture are sort of synonymous," said
McFarlane. "Everyone from my generation knows that film backwards and forward.
Everyone in our writing staff can quote that movie. If you don't know Star
Wars, god, you might as well jump off a cliff."
Dailymotion and the Weinstein Company are on the search for the "Ultimate
Fanboy (or Girl)" as part of a promotion for their upcoming Fanboys
movie. Do you love and know your Star Wars and can prove it? You may win
a walk-on role in the movie!
Jonathan Bresman of MAD magazine gave a preview of the upcoming MAD About
Star Wars book, which includes such classics as the very first "Star Bores"
parody, Sergio Aragones' classic looks at Star Wars, and the many riffs
on Star Wars the legendary magazine has done in the past 30 years.
"Star Wars is MAD Magazine's most favorite punching bag... and
fortunately George Lucas happens to be a life-long MAD magazine fan," said
Bresman.
Indiana Jones news was everywhere as the fourth installment of Indy's
cinematic adventures is one of the most eagerly anticipated films of 2008. In a
live video feed from the set, Director Steven Spielberg announced that Karen
Allen is reprising her role as Marion Ravenwood in the film. Lucas Books editor
J.W. Rinzler revealed the Indy publishing programming that starts next years,
including novels, comics and high end collectible books, while Hasbro previewed
their upcoming Indy toyline, with 3 3/4" figures, cute "Adventure Hero" toys and
12" figures. LucasArts also debuted the trailer to the upcoming LEGO: Indiana
Jones video game.
All this and more -- including summaries of Paramount's previews and the
upcoming Blade Runner: The Final Cut release. |

AAHA's New
Look |
JediJen from our affiliate site,
AAHA has created a
new look for her site. Here is what she says about the new layout:
"I wanted to go with an emotionally dark theme from ROTS, so I chose to
use images of how it ended for Anakin and Padme - Padme's tragic death, and
Anakin becoming Vader."
"Enjoy, and look for returning pages that are
still under construction, and new additions!"
Great job Jen! If you haven't visited AAHA for a while or
have never been, then now's the time! |
