"Three for Three"

This painting is a relatively simple one done well before I had much at all in the way of information about Revenge of the Sith. I must have been lacking any ideas at the time...

1. This is a still from Attack of the Clones that was the direct inspiration for the painting. It provided a good pose for the three main characters in tense action.

2. Is the photo mainly used for Padmé's face. At the time there would have been a few printouts of her face that influenced her look in the end.

3. Are the sketches done for the picture. There wasn't much to develop apart from the pose and clothing of Padmé. You can see a couple of designs for the head-dress. In the end I used the more simple head-phone/hair-clip style design because of laziness more than anything.

4. I used the colors of this dress for the base of the one in the painting. Why I don't know, because I hated the look of this dress; it was very ugly to me.

5. Is an interesting coincidence. I got a bit of a surprise when Mon Mothma appeared in Revenge of the Sith a couple of years later with this similar head-dress.

6. We have the finished painting. With almost no info on Episode III when doing this I decided to put the trio on Tatooine. Didn't put too much thought into the look of the characters either; forgot to put a glove on Anakin's hand, he still has a padawan braid, didn't think about visually linking the films with the look of Obi-Wan. Though it is a relatively dramatic image even though there isn't much in the painting apart from a laser bolt past his Anakin's ear. You'll notice bend in Padmé's arm. Is she holding something? Something like a baby or two?
