"Jango's Tango"

This painting is an early interpretation of the fight scene between Jango Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the rain on Kamino, from Attack of the Clones.

1. Here you can see the start of the idea for the painting with a couple of differently oriented poses. You can see that the second of these is influenced by the stills from the movie trailers. I wasn't too happy with the way they worked so I went looking for photo reference to work from.

2 & 3. Are the photos the I chose for the two figures. 3 isn't exactly the photo used but it's similar. I think the one I used is from the Return of the Jedi storybook.

3a. Is one of the images that influenced the context of the painting.

4. You have the sketches based on the photos I decided to use. You can see that they follow the photos fairly well.

5. When I did the painting I didn't have much information to fill in the background, this is an example of the type of thing I had to work with. I basically didn't know much apart from the tower.

6. Is the final painting. It isn't particularly well executed but it works okay. The effect of wind and rain has been achieved without much work. There's a good since of vibration in the clash of the laser bolts and lightsaber. You can feel that Jango is strong and aggressive in his position. The composition is a little unbalanced but that could be because of the lines, or, the painting could be scanned a little crooked.
