High-End
Collector Packaging for 2007 |
The Official Star Wars Site has
announced that Star Wars fans recently got to preview some of the new 2007 toy
packaging devised by Lucasfilm and Boston-based packaging design firm PILOT to
celebrate Star Wars' 30th anniversary across several of its merchandising
brands. A handful of licensed items, however, will be receiving a completely
different look -- one that is more formal, refined, and classic.
According to Lucas Licensing's Director of Global Product Development Darren
Phillipson, select licensees that develop high-end collector product like
Attakus, Gentle Giant, Master Replicas and Sideshow will be adopting a new
classic-yet-contemporary look for 2007, one that imparts a "museum-quality"
feel. Be sure to go and read the full article and see the new packaging. |

Medicom's New
Stormtrooper |
StarWarsShop.com has
stated that Medicom's new Stormtrooper Real Action Hero 12-Inch poseable figure
looks so photo-realistic that they actually thought these images were actors
posed in suits. Medicom's artisans have so masterfully captured the look and
articulation of the costumed characters that this trooper is easily the closest
representation of the notorious Imperial minions crafted to
date.
Previous editions in the RAH series, which included Jedi Luke
Skywalker and Darth Vader, were quick sellouts at StarWarsShop (where both were
import exclusives as well). These are not often available to import, so
pre-order today and make sure to grab one of these incredible likenesses!

New Fan Art
|
Earlybird Obi-Wan and Glenn Betts
have submitted a few more new Fan Art creations. Earlybird Obi-Wan's piece is
another in a series of Oil's, while Glenn Betts' work is done on the computer.
Here is what Glenn said about his latest piece:
This one is entitled, "Anakin Conceived (The Plaquis Theory)" This
takes place on Naboo with Sidious and some evil Gungans in the
background (notice the Dooku lightsaber and the Darth Maul-ish robe that
Sidious sports).
Thanks to both of you for the great work! These pieces and others can be
found over at the Fan Art section on
Page 4. Enjoy!

Featured Artist
Craig Burt-Painting by Numbers 8 |
Featured Artist Craig Burt has sent in another
breakdown of one of his paintings that provides us with a look into how the
picture came about. Here is some of the article created by Craig:
"Token
Toll"
This painting was one of the more fun to do because it was
mostly based in nostalgia. Even though it wasn't executed as well as it could
have been - should have put more work into the 'token bad guy' - it is still a
likeable painting to me.
Be sure to read the rest of the article about "Token
Toll" in the Painting by
Numbers section. Thanks Craig for another great walkthrough of how this
image came about! Enjoy! |

December 2006
Comics |
The Official Star Wars Site has provided a look at more Dark Horse
Comics for Star Wars fans this December. Lightsaber crashes against lightsaber
in a battle between Jedi and Sith that marks a crucial turning point in the
(future) fate of the Star Wars galaxy! The life of a central figure hangs in the
balance, triggering Cade Skywalker to make a shocking choice that will challenge
everything he's fought so hard to protect, and start him down a path from which
he can never return. The stakes are higher than ever before in the Star Wars
universe, set a century after the familiar events of the classic Star Wars
trilogy. Star Wars Legacy #7, featuring the works of John Ostrander, Jan
Duursema, Dan Parsons, Brad Anderson and cover art by Adam Hughes, is scheduled
for release on December 13.
Jetting back a few millennia, the creative
team of John Jackson Miller, Brian Ching and Michael Atiyeh continue to tell the
tale of Padawan Zayne Carrick. Take fugitive Carrick, throw in a big-mouthed con
artist, two mysterious refugees, and one grumpy droid and you've got the most
unpredictable, fast-paced, take on the Star Wars universe since a scoundrel
named Solo helped Luke Skywalker blow up the Death Star! For this misfit crew of
unlikely heroes, life in the Old Republic is anything by idyllic. Scheming to
scrounge up some scratch on the banking world of Telerath, they've run afoul of
two bounty-hunting brothers as dangerous to the galaxy as they are to each
other. It's going to take more than a lightsaber to get Zayne and his friends
out of this one -- such as deceits, disguises, and a bit of the good ol'
fashioned Force! Find out more in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #12,
due out on December 27.
These are dark times indeed, when even the
noblest of undertakings must rely on stealth, deception, and possibly the
betrayal and abandonment of friends and loved ones. Events have led Jedi Dass
Jennir and his companion Bomo Greenbark to the planet Orvax, slave marketplace
to the galaxy. There they face not only danger from the slavers and the Empire,
but they must confront the awful truth that their goal may be beyond their
reach.
Meanwhile, Darth Vader must deal with some unpleasant realities --
and memories -- of his own. Though he is a Dark Lord of the Sith, even he must
bow before the power of the Emperor.
Read more in Star Wars: Dark Times
#3, the third part of the five-part The Path to Nowhere, by Welles Hartley, Mick
Harrison, Douglas Wheatley, and Ronda Pattison, due out on December
27.
What better Valentines' gift can you think of than the first
collected volume of Star Wars: Rebellion. In this trade paperback volume,
Imperial officer Janek "Tank" Sunber makes a critical choice between his duty to
the Empire and his loyalty to childhood friend Luke Skywalker in an explosive
tale of Rebel spies, Imperial ambushes, and the dreaded Darth
Vader!
Having rescued Rebel strategist Jorin Sol from the Empire, Luke
Skywalker now leads X-Wing attack runs on Imperial convoys to rustle up much
needed supplies for the Rebel fleet. Little does he know that within Sol lies a
secret that will put the entire Alliance in danger. What's worse, when Luke
receives a coded message from Lt. Sunber, he must decide whether to trust his
old friend or obey the orders of Princess Leia who believes Tank may be part of
an Imperial plot to capture the Rebellion's greatest hero!
It's all in
Star Wars: Rebellion Volume 1 -- My Brother, My Enemy, by Rob Williams, Brandon
Badeux and Michael Lacombe, and it's due out on February 14. |
