Guy Lagacé's Climactic Battlescenes

Today I have updated Guy Lagacé's Climactic Battlescenes with another of his scenes. This was the tenth in the series for this section. Remember that these images were his vision of scenes from movies that had not been created. This image was another of Guy's take on what Anakin Skywalker would look like for Episode II. Before the actors were officially announced, there was a lot of scuttlebutt about Leonardo DiCaprio playing the role of Anakin. Be sure to also see other great artists in the Featured Artists section. Enjoy!

Note: I am missing several pieces or have smaller versions!
If you have any Guy Lagacé art, please send it to Jedi Power
to be included in these galleries!

Have You Voted?

Captain Sith Park chimes in with some disturbing news about the voting for the Star Wars Stamps. The good Captain received a report from a Star Wars fan named Andrea and she stated that: "As fans, we really need to get going. One of the local postal clerks is a (pardon the expression) Star Trek fan and he has the stamps framed at his station. He said according to responses, there doesn't seem to be much interest in SW fans"

The voting for Star Wars stamps has been going on now for 30 some-odd days and has garnered close to 300,000 votes. Now you might think that 300,000 is a good number, but in 1992, 1.2 million voted for their favorite Elvis stamp! We definitely need to get on a roll, because there are only about 20 days left!

"This Star Wars vote is only the second time the post office has let people vote. STAR WARS FANS NEED TO BEAT THIS NUMBER!!! Only one of the designs will be produced as an individual stamp. It's not just a silly vote - IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Fans can vote EVERYDAY."

You heard the man! Vote for your favorite at www.uspsjedimaster.com.

Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed

Captain Sith Park e-mailed us with an official announcement.

STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED
On The History Channel®

2 Hour World Premiere Monday, May 28, at 9pm ET/PT

Thirty years ago, an unheralded film known as Star Wars opened in theaters and took audiences on a groundbreaking journey to a galaxy far, far away. It instantly seized the public's imagination, and three decades later still claims that grasp. Now, a new special from The History Channel seeks to understand why the emotional impact of the Star Wars Saga remains as relevant as ever. The two-hour special, STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED, is a World Premiere on The History Channel on Monday, May 28 at 9pm ET/PT

STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED is produced by Prometheus Entertainment in association with Lucasfilm Ltd. Executive Producer is Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Burns (Empire of Dreams, Look, Up in the Sky!). Executive Producer for The History Channel is Beth Dietrich Segarra.

You can read about it at the Official Star Wars Site and you can also see the official press release regarding Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed on The History Channel.

Video of Lucas Interview on Late Night

George Lucas was a guest Monday night on the Late Night show with Conan O'Brien. For those of you like myself that could not stay up to watch the interview in person, I have provided the clip. I was hoping for some new information but didn't get any. The crowd went wild with the announcement of a new Star Wars 3d Clone Wars TV show. I think it was the first time an official announcement of the new series made it to the main stream for the general public, so I guess for them it was a big announcement. Also, it wouldn't be a Conan show without a few antics. The interview runs about eight and a half minutes. Enjoy!

Exclusive Interview With Official Star Wars Artist Kevin Graham

Kevin-Graham-SW-Sketch1.jpg (210368 bytes)Kevin Graham, one of our Featured Artists has become an Official Star Wars artist, and just recently completed work on Sketch Cards for the Topps 30th Anniversary Card set.

He took the time out of his very busy schedule to sit down with us for an exclusive interview. Here is an excerpt:

How did you get into Star Wars?

I remember when I was little first seeing Star Wars, it was one of those things you never forget about. My Mom bought me every toy that was out at the time. There weren’t many out when the first movie came out but plenty later on. I would play with them all day long. To this day I still have many of them and thousands of the newer toys. My wife thinks I am a big nerd, Yes I said I have a wife :) As a family we try and go to Disney Star Wars weekends each year. It’s a lot of fun. I really didn’t get into drawing Star Wars until a few years ago. I often get my work signed by the characters who played the characters in the movies.

Which Star Wars film is your favorite and why?

I would have to say A New Hope is my favorite. It was the movie that started it all. It was a visual and emotional masterpiece at the time and still holds up to this day. A New Hope took everyone to a place they have never been before. The special effects were way ahead of their time, George Lucas brought so many great resources together to make a great picture, even when many doubted him. From the factor of that alone I take away that you should never give up on your dreams.

Be sure to read the entire interview where he also talks about his work for Topps. Also see his gallery of Art Work and Sketch Cards here at Galactic Voyage!

The Art of Ralph McQuarrie Update

Just a quick note to let you know that we have posted our latest production update online, including images of the three exclusive signed bookplates that we will be giving away to attendees of Star Wars Celebration who have pre-ordered copies of The Art of Ralph McQuarrie, or purchase the book at the show.

We have also announced that all customers who have pre-ordered the book will also receive a specially designed signed bookplate that will ship with the book. As the pre-order cut-off will coincide with the receipt of the books (expected next week!), folks will have to act quickly to take advantage of this offer.

As of now, the deluxe edition is SOLD OUT (we are taking names on a waiting list, and will maintain that until all sales are final on the remaining reserved copies). We do still have some signed copies available for pre-order, however it is not clear how many (if any) we will have remaining to bring to Celebration IV. I strongly encourage anyone interested in a signed copy to pre-order to avoid disappointment. We hope to bring several hundred copies of the unsigned trade edition with us to the show.

More detail can be found on the site - let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks!

Ships Section Updated

Today I have updated the Ships Section with the Golan I Space Defense Platform. This space station was added as a result of our on-going poll and what you would like to see more of. I was very surprised to see the level of interest in seeing more Bases & Space Stations, so I will try to add more soon. You can get a listing of ships using their picture by type at the Ships Section. Or, if you would like to see an alphabetical listing of all of our ships, you can check out the Ship Index. If you have a ship you would like to see us add, then e-mail me the request and I will do my best to add it for you. Enjoy!

A New Hope Visual Guides

The Official Star Wars Site has provided an interesting new feature called the Visual Guides. In these guides, they break down portions of the scenes and provide intricate details of items and people you may not know. If you like the Visual Guide series of books, then you will definitely enjoy this ongoing series. It also reminds me a bit of the old LucasArts Behind the Magic CD that came out in 1998 and featured the same type of guides. You can view the first three guides, that speak about the Twentieth Century Fox logo, opening crawl, and the Tantive IV attack.

Finally we see something new and interesting from the Official Site. It is currently free to the public, but I would not be surprised to see it eventually moved to the Hyperspace section. Now if we can get the same type of quality goods for those that actually pay for Hyperspace! Be sure to go and check these three Visual Guides!
