Lando Calrissian’s Sullustan copilot during the Battle of Endor. Together, Nien and Lando navigated the Millennium Falcon into the heart of the second Death Star and destroyed the battle station. Prior to joining the Alliance, Nien led a band of outlaws against the SoroSuub company, which had allied itself with the Empire. For this bravado, Nunb was considered a folk hero by his people and a criminal by the Empire. His reputation earned him Lando’s respect and the legendary assignment aboard the Falcon.

Born on the dark, volcanic world of Sullust, Nien Nunb is taller and more commanding than most Sullustans. Like others of his species he has prominent facial jowls, large ears, and deep black eyes. For most of Nunb’s life, his planet was dominated by the powerful SoroSuub Corporation, a vast conglomerate with intergalactic influence. An accomplished pilot, Nien Nunb gained employment with SoroSuub, using a modified freighter to transport minerals and goods to the neighboring systems. He quickly earned a reputation as one of the most reliable freighter pilots in the region. During this time, he also became a proficient smuggler and befriended Lando.

When Palpatine seized control of the Republic and became Emperor, SoroSuub pledged its allegiance to the new government. Disgusted, Nien Nunb defected and became a wanted criminal. But the Sullustan chose to fight the New Order, and he soon gathered a large number of smugglers, spies, pirates, and other outlaws to his cause. This unlikely band undermined SoroSuub’s enterprises, stole the corporation’s ships and consignments, and sabotaged plants and mining facilities. Soon, the bulk of Sullust’s population stood behind Nien Nunb and his bandits, who had become folk heroes. Nunb’s efforts seized the attention of the Rebel Alliance when the Sullustan began donating stolen equipment and supplies to the Rebel forces.

By the time the Rebels began to plot the Battle of Endor, Nien Nunb had become a full member of the Rebellion. When Lando too joined the Alliance, the two friends agreed to lead the dangerous assault on the second Death Star. Since the Rebellion’s victory and the rise of the New Republic, Nunb has flown countless missions with Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Calrissian. He eventually joined Lando in a business venture on Kessel, where he and several other Sullustans explored the valuable spice mines using droids instead of slave labor.
