The CC-7700 Interdictor Frigate was an older warship by the time of the Galactic Civil War. It was based on its predecessor, the Detainer CC-2200 Interdictor Cruiser.
A product of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, it was in many respects the predecessor to the Corellian Gunship. The ship was lightly armed, but the CC-7700 was not meant to be a battle ship. Instead, it was designed to be a platform for a gravity well projector, with a mission profile similar to the Imperial Interdictor cruiser. When activated, these projectors create artificial gravity wells, preventing hyperspace travel in the area. Despite being quite effective in their intended role, they never became too prevalent when introduced and are now extremely rare.
Shortly after the Black Fleet Crisis, General Garm Bel Iblis used a pair of CC-7700 frigates in an attempt to capture Admiral Daala. Daala was able to escape after desperately ramming her flagship,
the Scylla, into one of the frigates. However, this action severely damaged
the Scylla's navigational systems, and Daala's jump into hyperspace was a blind one. She has not been seen since.
