Lucasfilm Cease And Desist

Tuesday night I received a Cease and Desist letter from Lucasfilm. Their complaint was about the improper use of Star Wars images in our Images Section going against their Copyright laws and Trademarks. In order to comply with their wishes, the Images Section has been removed. If you are interested, you can read the full letter by going to that section. Sorry for the inconvenience, but without compliance, Galactic Voyage would cease to exist.

December 2008 Comics

The Official Star Wars Site has provided a look at more Dark Horse Comics for Star Wars fans in December.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars #3 (of 6) Written by Henry Gilory; Pencils and cover by Lucas Marangon; Inks by Dan Parsons. On sale December 10. 40 pages.

Eighty million Togruta from the planet of Kiros have suddenly disappeared! It's up to Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Togruta Padawan Ahsoka Tano to find the lost population. A clue leads the Jedi to the Zygerria system: massive slave auctions have been held there in the past, and will be taking place again soon -- with the unfortunate Togruta on the auction block!

This new series is a complement to Lucasfilm's highly anticipated CGI-animated Star Wasr: The Clone Wars television series!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #36 "Prophet Motive" Part 1 (of 2) Written by John Jackson Miller; Illustrated by Bong Dazo; Colors by Michael Atiyeh; Cover by Dan Scott. On sale December 24. 40 pages.

The beginning of a whole new era for loner Jedi Zayne Carrick launches our clever, clumsy hero, his con-artist best friend Gryph, and the bold Jarael into the kind of seat-of-your-pants adventure only Star Wars can provide! The perfect starting point for new readers, this story kicks off the next phase in Zayne's life with a long-shot swindle gone wrong! Gryph's got a plan to part some shady-dealing Chev from their unjustly earned credits, but he'll need more than a disguise to protect him when they catch on to his game!

Star Wars: Legacy #31 "Vector" Part 12 (of 12) Written by John Ostrander; Pencils and cover by Jan Duursema; Inks by Dan Parsons; Colors by Brad Anderson. On sale December 31. 40 pages.

It is Jedi vs. Sith, and Sith vs. Sith in this, the conclusion to "Vector" -- the year-long event that has shaken the galaxy, shattered lives, and brought about new beginnings ends here! Darth Krayt may finally be captured and defeated in the trap set by Cade Skywalker and Jedi Master of old Celeste Morne. But Emperor Krayt might no longer be the most powerful Sith lord in the galaxy. Will Cade and Celeste have another Sith to defeat... or join?

Star Wars: Legacy Volume 5 Written by John Ostrander; Pencils and cover by Jan Duursema; Inks by Dan Parsons; Colors by Brad Anderson. On sale February 25. 104 pages.

Cade Skywalker just wants to be left alone. But when you and your friends have just blown up half of the Sith Temple, cut down two of Emperor Darth Krayt's most trusted minions, and you happen to be the last known heir of the Skywalker legacy, people -- bad people, and lots of them -- are going to come knocking.

The Empire's retaliatory genocide on Mon Calamari is just the icing on the cake. Cade and his bounty-hunter band realize that something must be done! If only there was somebody to help Cade save the galaxy and get the Sith off his back. Maybe a bunch of Jedi?

The secrets of the Hidden Temple are revealed -- along with a spy who was once a friend!

Star Wars Insider #104

The Official Star Wars Site has the latest information about Star Wars Insider #104. With Star Wars: The Clone Wars just around the corner, Star Wars Insider #104 catches up with supervising director Dave Filoni on all the latest about the new animated series. Sharing the spotlight is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed; Insider visits the Lucasfilm headquarters at Skywalker Ranch and the Presidio to uncover the secrets of this highly anticipated new video game.

Also in this issue, Insider counts down the 10 most memorable lines from A New Hope and examines their impact on the world. It's Admiral Ackbar versus Admiral Thrawn in a battle to see who comes out on top. A recap of a busy convention summer looks at Celebration Japan and Comic-Con International. And take a look back at yesteryear with a feature article about the launching of the original Star Tours, and a look further back -- 30 years ago -- when the Star Wars Holiday Special first reared its, uh, furry head.

All the regular columns round out the issue, and this issue includes a new feature interview with visual effects visionary Dennis Muren. One of the veteran ILMers who worked on the first Star Wars, Muren steered the visual effects industry into new, digital frontiers in the '90s and his achievements are many. Star Wars Insider #104 hits newsstands on September 16th.

7 Years-May We Never Forget

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those that were affected by the ghastly terror attacks of September 11, 2001. It is hard to believe it has been seven years. We remember and honor those that lost their lives seven years ago and we honor those that have given their lives today in order to preserve our freedom. May we never forget and may we always remain vigilant and united.

Lightsabre News

Our good friend Mark from Lightsabre has sent in some news.

Plenty of action at Lightsabre Towers this week, which we will get to in a moment, but first - here's the news (read in a 1940's newsreel style).

  • Third part of Robert Watts interview arrives on Lightsabre
  • Admiral Motti site redesigned and updated
  • Polcon convention report posted to site
  • Dorling Kindersley Star Wars Blueprints competition announced

There, plenty of good stuff on this week, and more on the way as our new staff member Matt Turvey continues to work behind the scenes to make
Lightsabre bigger and better.

Paul Squire continues to beaver away on his new short story and Jonathan Hicks launches http://www.farsightgames.moonfruit.com/.

That's all for this week, we'll be in touch shortly regarding our next webmaster guest next Sunday and we'll also have a report from the Reunion 6
convention in Walsall where Rene Auberjoinois is the main guest.
