Star Wars TV
Series Now Hiring |
IGN FilmForce can exclusively report that Lucasfilm is seeking
screenwriters for its planned TV series based on George Lucas' Star Wars film
saga.
Keeping with Lucas' penchant for security, the show will be
scripted at the bearded one's secluded Skywalker Ranch. Work will commence this
January. Lucas and his colleague Rick McCallum will produce the still untitled
show.
The series is slated to run 50 hours and will be a mixture of
live-action and CGI. Principal photography will begin in 2007 with filming to
take place in Australia.
While the show will apparently revolve around
imperial bounty hunters, there could be other directions taken. The series will
take place after the Empire has risen to power. |

2005 Holiday
Darth Vader Figure Now Exclusively at StarWarsShop |
Darth Vader bares his true colors
in this decidedly Sith-inspired 2005 holiday action figure available exclusively
from StarWarsShop.com. The very first Vader figure to make a holiday appearance,
it's also the first to be designed for display in a variety of settings with or
without the base.
This exclusive StarWarsShop edition has a red metallic finish (not
vac-metallized, as previously reported), and would make a standout addition to
the silver series figures released in recent years. Also, with the color red so
closely associated with the Sith (lightsabers, royal guards, Darth Maul), this
red Vader represents a rare but fitting diversion from the man in black's iconic
dark décor.
But for those who prefer to keep their scarlet Darth in the holiday spirit
year-round, this figure makes a fantastic presentation piece both on and off the
card. Displayed loose on the base, Vader fits perfectly alongside the previous
holiday edition figures. On the card, however, is where this vermillion Vader
really shines.
The classic Original Trilogy Collection-style card not only features the
standard metallic wrap-around logo (showcased for the first time in red), but
also depicts a Ralph McQuarrie-inspired backdrop of the Executor bridge
decked out in holiday décor. Additionally, a figure-exclusive holiday greeting
card is also included, illustrating a whimsical scene of Vader building a
"snowtrooper".
The reverse of the cardback calls out the fact that this figure is a
StarWarsShop exclusive, and will be sent securely in a StarWarsShop-branded Star
Case. This 2005 edition is limited, so make sure to order yours today!

The Ultimate
Clone Guide in Star Wars Insider #84 |
Next to the Kaminoans, there is no
greater authority on the clone forces of the Republic than authors Karen Traviss
and Ryan Kaufman. They have teamed up to present the ultimate Guide to the Grand
Army of the Republic in Star Wars Insider #84. Find out the specifics behind the
clone order of battle, individual units, equipment, weapons, and clone heroes
like Captain Fordo, Commander Bacara, Sergeant Fox and Captain Jag. It's the
guide clone-fans have been waiting for!
Hopefully this will clear up all
the rumors about who is who. No more Commander Fox!!! As I have been telling
people for a while now, he is Sergeant Fox as listed above. This should be a
great read!
Star Wars Insider #84 starts shipping to subscribers this
week. It's available in three different covers. It will start shipping to
newsstands starting September 26.

New Toy Price
War? |
Yesterday ICv2 posted some news about what
Star Wars figure collectors can expect for our holiday shopping from
Wal-Mart.
"Wal-Mart has announced that it will be pricing more
aggressively this holiday season. CEO Lee Scott said that it was criticized for
cutting prices too much in 2003, and for not cutting prices enough last year,
and that it would move back toward more aggressive pricing this year. This move
could portend another price war on toys this holiday season."
"In 2003,
Wal-Mart's brutal price competition on toys led to the bankruptcy of KB Toys and
FAO Schwartz, and indirectly to the sale of Toys R Us. Last year, Toys R Us cut
its prices to compete more aggressively with the discount department store
giant, as well as bringing in exclusives from a variety of companies that helped
differentiate it from the competition. It was also helped by less ferocious
discounting from Wal-Mart. Now it looks like conditions are ripe for another
tough year in 2005 for retailers competing with the world's largest
retailer."
Maybe I can get a few more figures this fall! |

Going to the Dark
Side |
When Anakin Skywalker first stood
before the Jedi Council as a nine-year old boy, Yoda laid out his future in a
progression that began with fear and ended with suffering. The final steps of
that journey will take place in Revenge of the Sith, with Hayden Christensen
playing Anakin at the most important juncture in his life. George Lucas selected
Christensen for his ability to play dark, and in this episode, the darkness will
consume Skywalker as he becomes Darth Vader. Hear from Christensen as he
undertakes this journey, with insights from crew and co-stars.
