Star Wars Fan
Club Kits Shipping |
The Official Star Wars Site has
announced that kits are scheduled to begin shipping this week, packed full of
goodies for fans who remember Empire in its original release and for new
fans who continue to enjoy The Clone Wars and the soon-to-be-released
Star Wars: The Old Republic.
With 18 items, including three posters, an exclusive comic book, patch,
membership card, stickers, and more, we think this is the best fan club kit to
date, and a fitting ensemble to commemorate the retirement of Hyperspace.
And as a nod to those old-schoolers who have been with us since the old days
-- or have perhaps recently returned -- you may recognize a few items from the
original 1980 fan club kit, along with some upgrades. The classic "Gone With The
Wind"-style Empire poster, which was included with the 1980 kit as a
20"x27" poster, has been up-sized to 18"x32", revealing the full artwork as
originally envisioned by artist Roger Kastel. Also, we've reproduced the
original Empire logo pencils included in the '80 kit (the logo and
illustration have been cleaned up), and the traditional George Lucas welcome
letter has been printed on the old-style Fan Club letterhead stationary, a
throwback to the early days of Star Wars fandom! And did we mention, the
posters come rolled for the first time since 1983?
Kit contents include:
- Roger Kastel Empire "Gone With The Wind"-style original artwork
poster (rolled, approximately 18"x32")
- "Thank the Maker" 16-page comic book (story by Ryder Windham, artwork by
Kilian Plunkett)
- Empire 30th anniversary logo patch (approximately 3.5" tall)
- Official Fan Club plastic membership card with The Clone Wars
Mandalorean artwork
- Reproduction 1980 Empire Strikes Back fan club pencil
- George Lucas welcome letter on vintage-style Fan Club letterhead stationary
- Darth Maul Japanese-style artwork poster (rolled, approximately 12"x35")
- Poster of book cover art for The Clone Wars: Secret Missions #2 with
book checklist on back (rolled, approximately 17"x23")
- Exclusive Topps promo Star Wars Galaxy card
- Sideshow Collectibles $25 gift card
- Star Wars: The Old Republic plastic card with scratch off code for
website content
- Mimobot flash drives Series 5 sticker
- Boba Fett temporary tattoo
- Stickers to customize your Star Wars toy vehicles
- Keychain promoting LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary and Star
Wars: Year by Year
- Coloring book page with Boba Fett
- The Strange Case of Origami Yoda two-sided flyer with Yoda origami
instructions
- Star Wars Head-to-Head promotional postcard

Clip |
To continue catching up, today's
new video clip in the Movies Section is from the
upcoming Star Wars game The Old Republic.
The Battle of Alderaan. The Republic's gravest hour. Recently promoted to
Darth, Malgus launches the first of many surprise attacks that would become his
trademark during the Great War, perfectly timing the assault with a feint that
pulls the Republic fleet light-years away. Thousands of assault droids and
hundreds of Sith set the heart of the Republic ablaze, and Alderaan's few
defenders are swept away with ease.
Unknown to Darth Malgus, small groups
of Republic Troopers are stationed on Alderaan, some recovering from wounds,
others are awaiting orders. As these brave soldiers take to the forests and
mountains to fight a guerilla campaign against Malgus's forces, the Republic
fleet rushes back to repel the invasion. With time running out and Alderaan's
capitol threatened, it falls to Havoc Squad, the elite Republic Special Forces
unit, to coordinate one last desperate stand against Malgus' vastly superior
numbers.

Star Wars
Celebration V Preview |
Star Wars Celebration is the
official Lucasfilm event celebrating all things Star Wars, produced by fans for
fans. Celebrations are the largest Star Wars parties, featuring cast and crew
celebrities, fans, costumes, music, live entertainment, autographs,
collectibles, and panels — but mainly friends who gather to have fun and
celebrate their love for the saga. From fans who first experienced A New Hope in
theaters to kids just discovering Star Wars through Star Wars: The Clone Wars,
Star Wars Celebration touches on anything and everything connected with that
galaxy far, far away. If you can make it, I would go.

Digital Star Wars
Insider |
The Official Star Wars Site has
announced that Star Wars Insider is now available to read online. The
official magazine for all things Star Wars is part of a library of more
than 50,000 magazines available on "the world's largest digital newsstand" --
Zinio.com.
Though the magazine will still be available in newsagents and bookstores,
Zinio offers an exciting alternative to the print edition and a high quality
digital reading experience, allowing you to zoom, interact, and share with
friends, anywhere, any time.
You can preview the digital version of the current issue of Star Wars
Insider at the Zinio website by clicking on this link.
A subscription to the digital version of Star Wars Insider typically
saves readers 30% off the newsstand price. In the United States, the
subscription price is $36.34 (compared to a cover price of $51.92), and in the
United Kingdom it is £24.77 (compared to £35.39).
Now I have to ask myself if the print version isn't now on its way out with
this new online version. If I can't keep a copy in PDF format or something like
that for my money, it is of no use to me. |

Star Wars Strikes
Back |
Well, as it always goes when I
decide to take a vacation, it seems there have been some major events and
updates in the Star Wars Universe. There were some great new videos provided for
The Force unleashed II, The Old Republic, and LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone
Wars. I am sure you have all seen them by now, but keep an eye out for the
videos in HD coming in the next couple of Daily Video Clips features. Be sure to
add these fantastic videos to you downloaded video collection. The look
absolutely fantastic! Now we need a movie made out of some of this CGI work.
