New LucasArts President

Kotaku has announced that LucasArts named Paul Meegan, the chief executive of Epic Games China, as its new president. Meegan replaces Darrell Rodriguez, who had held the post for two years and abruptly resigned the position on May 6.

Paul Meegan was the CEO and Co-founder of Epic Games China. Previous to Epic, Paul served as Executive Vice President, Production at Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Shanghai, where he managed the production of titles in the Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, and Rainbow Six franchises among many others. In 1997 he began his career as the President and Co-founder of Sinister Games, an independent developer located in Cary, North Carolina (Galactic Voyage's home state!) which was later acquired by Ubisoft in 2000.

Meegan starts his new position at LucasArts mid-June.

Star Wars Insider #118

The Official Star Wars Site has announced Star Wars Insider #118. You may remember getting a peek of Starkiller on the cover of the latest issue of Star Wars Insider last week when we previewed Titan's new advertising campaign. There are now three covers coming for the next issue: a text-free version shipping out to subscribers, a newsstands edition with text on the cover, and a text-free alternative for comic stores only. Here's some what's inside this issue.
  • The cover story reveals secrets behind the mystery-shrouded follow-up to the blockbuster Star Wars video game release of 2008. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is among the most anticipated video games of the year, and Insider provides truly inside access.
  • Legendary actor James Earl Jones talks about his iconic role as the voice of Darth Vader.
  • Star Wars Insider catches up with actor Hugh Quarshie to look back on his role as Captain Panaka in Episode I.
  • A trivia-packed look back at Season Two of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
  • Jonathan Rinzler, author of the forthcoming Star Wars: The Making of The Empire Strikes Back book, peers closely into the corridors of Cloud City.
  • This issue counts down to Star Wars Celebration with a behind-the-scenes look at Celebrations past.

This issue is also filled with all the fan-favorite departments: Launch Pad scours the Internet for some of the most eye-catching and off-beat Star Wars news, Interrogation Droid puts wampa ice monster Howie Weed in the hot seat; My Star Wars gives Warwick Davis a platform to talk about the saga; Star Wars Retro celebrates Yoda collectibles; Bantha Tracks lets stormtroopers lose in Manhattan and Red Five features Dave Filoni's must-sees for fans of animation.

All this and much more is in Star Wars Insider #118 which hits newsstands on June 15th.

Secret Lucasfilm Project

Animation Express has an interesting interview with Heather Brown, a recruiter for Lucasfilm Singapore. In the interview she states that "Lucasfilm Singapore had recently been to India and the good news is that they are working on a top secret CGI feature film project." Now we all know that ILM does work for many movies, but since this is the animation team from Lucasfilm Singapore, does that mean the potential for something Star Wars? Hmmm... Be sure to read the entire interview. It is very interesting.

The Clone Wars Season 3

Ashley Eckstein was recently interviewed in the video "A Walk in the Park with Ashley." In this video she stated that Season 3 of The Clone Wars will have some "connections" with the Original Trilogy. When asked if it was people, places, or things she gave a bit of a smirk but wouldn't comment further. I am looking forward to seeing what Dave Filoni brings to the screen in the next season. It will be a long summer!
