Ships Section
Updated |
Today I have updated the Ships Section with the
CRF-156T
Fast Courier (Raven's Claw). This ship was added because of a special
request by our good friend Rebel Racer. The page includes a Flash video of the
ship to give you something a little more interesting. You can get a listing of
ships and vehicles using their picture by type at the Ships
Section. Or, if you would like to see an alphabetical listing of all of our
ships and vehicles, you can check out the Ship Index. If you have a ship you would
like to see me add, then e-mail me the request and I will do my best to add it
for you. Enjoy!

Star Wars Social
Networking Cards |
For 30 years, Star Wars
fans have escaped the confines of this galaxy by living in the virtual world
born from the mind of filmmaker George Lucas. Today at Comic-Con International:
San Diego, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Get Solo, LLC announced they have joined forces to
help enthusiasts express their passion for the saga by creating personalized
Star Wars Social Networking Cards that fans can proudly exchange. Get
Solo, a provider of innovative marketing media and solutions, is taking orders
for the cards starting today at starwars.getsolo.com.
Star Wars Social Networking Cards provide a stunning and more personal
alternative to traditional business cards for true fans who want their own
customized 'calling card'. Cards can be tailored by selecting from 75 full-color
images for the front, and can be personalized to include interesting facts and
personal contact information. Fans can create cards for themselves, and as a
gift for a friend or a family member. They can be exchanged at events, parties
and school to make new friends and promote oneself, or even one's virtual self.
For online networking, an electronic card is included for free with every
order.
Star Wars Social Networking Cards are available in quantities of 100,
500 and 1,000 for as little as $29.99 (shipped). For more information, read the entire article.
My Commentary:
First off let me say that I think this is a little weird. Okay, let me get
this straight... I am supposed to get a card that has a cool Star Wars picture
on it with information about me or things I like and I give it to you!?!? Why? I
must be getting a little out of touch with the way people socialize these days.
To be honest, I can't see any of the "first generation" Star Wars fans getting
or using these things. (You know... Those of us that are around 40 and up!) If I
want a cool Star Wars picture on a card, then that is what collectible trading
cards are for. I can't see me having this conversation.... "Hi. You like Star
Wars too? Well let me give you my card! Can I have yours?" Please!!! In my
opinion I think this one is going to flop! But that is my opinion and it is new
Star Wars news. "These aren't the cards we are looking for... You can go about
your business... Move along. Move along." |

30th Anniversary
Star Wars Saga DVD Boxed Set |
Ho, Ho, Ho! I hope you boys and girls have been
good this year so that you will be able to receive the the new 30th Anniversary
Star Wars Saga DVD Boxed Set that will be released this Christmas.
This
set promises to have new footage, some scene upgrades, (like the TPM Yoda puppet
changed over to CG as mentioned here before), and some new extra surprises. I
hope that they will fix the sound and music mix problems from the Death Star
battle on the Episode IV DVD.
If you are attending the Comic-Con
convention this week, I would expect some sort of official announcement to be
made there. We shall soon see. |

Hasbro Honors
Katie Johnson with R2-KT Figure |
Business Wire has an
article about the new limited edition R2-KT figure. You never heard of R2-KT?
Please read on!
PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hasbro, Inc. and Lucasfilm Ltd.
announce the creation of a limited-edition Star Wars action figure to
honor Katie Johnson, a very special Star Wars fan who tragically passed
away from brain cancer in 2005 at the age of seven. In conjunction with this
figure, Hasbro and Lucasfilm will help make more wishes come true for children
like Katie by donating $100,000 in her memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundations of
South Carolina and San Diego. Hasbros R2-KT droid
figure will be available at San Diego Comic-Con International July 25-29 at the
booths of Hasbro and StarWarsShop with a small inventory also being offered for
sale online through HasbroToyShop.com and StarWarsShop.com following the
event.
The Star Wars saga has always been near to the heart of the Johnson
familyin fact, Katies father,
Albin Johnson, is the founder of the 501st Legion, a
Star Wars costuming fan club that performs charity work around the world.
So its not too surprising that Katies sister Allie wished her sister had an Artoo droid to look after her while
she underwent her cancer treatmentjust like R2-D2
cared for Padmι in Star Wars: Episode II
Attack of the Clones.
In 2005, the R2-D2 Builders cluba fan groupcreated for Katie a life-size astromech droid named R2-KT
(named KT after Katie)
modeled after the iconic R2-D2 character in the Star Wars films.
Hasbro, the maker of Star Wars action figures, and Lucasfilm both
recognized the uniqueness and special story this heartfelt tribute represented
and decided to go forward with a special edition 3-3/4
R2-KT figure in Katies honor as a way to allow all
fans to learn about and participate in Katies
continuing legacy.
Katies story touched us
all, and we are very proud to be involved in a project that will help raise
awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation so many more wishes may be granted to
children like Katie, said Derryl DePriest, marketing
director for Star Wars toys at Hasbro.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has long been a favorite
charity of the 501st and Lucasfilm, and they granted
Katie a fantastic wish before she died, said Derek
Stothard, Lucasfilms director of toys. So we are especially proud to be associated with Hasbro in
this great endeavor.
The R2-KT action figurewhich looks like a pink
version of R2-D2will cost $9.99. In addition, Albin
and Allie Johnson will be bringing the full-size R2-KT to Comic-Con to show to
fans. To find out more about the R2-KT project, please visit www.r2kt.com.
Hasbro (NYSE: HAS) is a worldwide leader in childrens and family leisure time entertainment products and

Interview With
Darth Maul |
France24 has a great article
featuring Darth Maul! Ray Park may have played the fearsome Darth Maul in Star
Wars but the British martial artist still feels starstruck alongside his fellow
icons from the epic film series.
"It was a cool character for me to show my martial arts skills," Park said.
"As my first acting role, it would have been a dream come true to even get 30
seconds on screen.
"I have my moments when I am proud of myself for getting there. But I look at
the pictures and I still don't believe it's me."
The martial artist is now squaring up to facing life forever being
hero-worshipped for his part in the Star Wars phenomenon. Be sure to find out
more by reading the entire interesting article. |
