Remember Star
Wars On Super-8? |
The Official Star Wars Site has a
great look back at some of the video that was available when I was young. I
remember thinking it would be so cool to have the ability to see clips from Star
Wars at home. From the images you see below, I got my wish but we had to hand
crank them. It was the best!! Super-8 was around before there was the war on VHS
and Betamax. Don't know what I am talking about? Then you are surely a younger
Star Wars fan. Think of it as the battle between Blue Ray and HD-DVD. Be sure to
read the entire article and see more pictures.

March and May
2009 Comics |
The Official Star Wars Site has provided a look at more Dark Horse
Comics for Star Wars fans in March.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #39 "Dueling Ambitions"
(Part 1 of 3) Written by John Jackson Miller; Pencils by Brian Ching;
Color by Michael Atiyeh; Cover by Daryl Mandryk On sale March 18. 40 pages.
Combat sports and high-speed racing in the Old Republic! Zayne and Gryph --
now partners in "crime" -- along with Jarael and Rohlan, prepare to rip off the
big-business world of sport dueling. Gryph has himself in the perfect position
for the con, until Zayne enters himself into the Open, Jarael becomes oddly
distracted, and even Rohlan finds himself taking part in the duels. If that
weren't enough, veteran warrior Goethar Kleej inexplicably forces upon Zayne an
incredible handicap . . .
Star Wars: Legacy #34 "Storms" (Part 1 of 2) Written by John
Ostrander; Cover by Brad Anderson On sale March 25; 40 pages
After their climactic battle against Darth Krayt, Cade and his crew are
hurtling through a lightning storm with mortally wounded Imperial Knight Azlyn
Rae and Jedi Knight Shado Vao. They hope to reach the planet Kiffer, where
Bantha Rawk might help with Cade's seemingly impossible plan to save Azlyn. The
Sith, too, are handling the aftermath of the battle on Had Abbadon. Some will
awaken to find the battle did not end as they believed . . .
Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- The Wind Raiders of Taloraan
Written by Jon Ostrander; Art by Wayne Lo. On sale May 27. 96 pages.
Digest-sized.
Jedi Knights Anakin and Obi-Wan, with Padawan Ahsoka, travel to the planet
Taloraan in hopes of gaining some useful allies for the Republic. But the two
ruling groups on the planet are not particularly interested in making a treaty
-- the Defrandi are already more sympathetic toward the Separatists, and the
Wind Raiders are simply unfriendly to everyone! It may be a merely impossible
mission for the Jedi, or one that might end in disaster!
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Volume 6: Vindication
Written by John Jackson Miller; Art by Brian Ching and Bong Dazo; Inks by Joe
Pimentel; Colors by Michael Atiyeh. On sale May 20. 168 pages.
Fugitive Padawan Zayne Carrick's quest to clear his name is finally concluded
in this novel-length story! Zayne and his con-artist companion Gryph commit to a
new course in exposing the dark actions of the secret Jedi Covenant. Yet doing
so takes them not only to the homeworld of one of Zayne's murdering Masters, but
into the most highly guarded place on the planet -- a storehouse of Sith
artifacts! But his days as a renegade won't end there! Zayne's search for
justice will continue to Coruscant, where he'll confront his Master, Lucien
Draay, and the members of the Jedi Covenant in a showdown that will end his days
as a fugitive in one way . . . or another. |

Order 66
Implemented |
Michael Heilemann had a very in-depth Star Wars image gallery on Flickr and I
had been enjoying seeing some hard to find images. Then, this week his image
gallery was struck down like all the other Jedi and yours truly. With Lucasfilm
going after image galleries these days, one can only hope they are putting
together a comprehensive and quality gallery of their own. Here is some of what
Mike had to say about the situation:
"Copyright laws protect Star Wars, but so far Lucas and Lucasfilm haven't
been doing the best of jobs with it, so one can only wonder if it isn't in fact
better left up to the fans?
Either way, those of you who joined because
of my Star Wars addiction, I'm sorry, but there will be no more Star Wars on
here from now on in. It's all out there on the net, but you will have to
excavate it up on your own, until such a time that
A long time ago, in a
galaxy far far away, I loved Star Wars. I still do, but I'm not sure the
opposite is true any more.
It took me a couple of years to build the
collection, to tag, organize and inter-link it. And it will take me a couple of
years to get over the loss of it and the lack of any proper
alternatives."
Be sure to go and read the entire rant/article. I know how he feels and I can't
say I blame him. |
