LucasArts'
Lucidity |
GameTrailers TV on SPIKE announced
a new game last night from LucasArts and much to my chagrin it was not a new
Star Wars title. Instead it was a new game called Lucidity. LucasArts has
decided to return to its roots to again become one of the premiere videogame
developers, something the company has lost over the last decade or so. On the
Star Wars front, they did announce Kol Teska who is a new boss in The Clone
Wars: Republic Heroes. They also talked about the Hoth mission available
exclusively on The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition. In the mission, the
Emperor has tasked you with hunting down and capturing Luke Skywalker. We were
able to deduct this from the video trailer on that level. Though disappointing
for me, LucasArts will surely continue to crank out Star Wars games for us to
enjoy. |

Daily Video
Clip |
Today's video clip comes from PerezStart.com where they have an interesting article about
Star Wars and Call of Duty 4. This mod was made for the PC and was created by
the German group called the BlackMonkeys. They’re calling it “Galactic Warfare.”
It features real Star Wars skins over COD4 players. What’s better are the guns.
Recreated from the Star Wars Galaxy, you can shoot Rebels using the
Stormtrooper's cool laser rifle, the DLT-20a. Also, the battles take place in
Tatooine so be sure to look out for the sandstorms. It may look a little like
the Battlefront series of games, but I wish Battlefront would look as realistic
as this mod. If you have a movie clip or scene
from any video game in a AVI, MOV, etc. format, please send it in! Enjoy!

Dragon*Con
Live-Action TV Series Report |
Our good friends at EUCantina.net have discovered an article from the San Francisco
Examiner in the Charlotte, North Carolina section news from Dragon*Con about
the Live-Action TV Series. Bryan Young from the Charlotte 501st reports that:
"I was able to attend the "Future of Star Wars" panel at Dragon*Con
presented by Steve Sansweet. Although it was largely a rehash of things I've
reported on in San Diego (and a large chunk of the presentation was a filmed
segment of the Clone Wars table read from San Diego), there were a couple of
interesting tidbits.
Steve Sansweet officially acknowledged the Live Action TV series and gave
a rough timetable and hinted strongly at a bit of casting news (though the hint
will make it constitute as rumour at best).
First: Pre-production on the show will be starting soon and go through
until the new year. The writers have been working for a while and, according to
Sansweet, no one knows anything about the story for sure except George Lucas,
Rick McCallum and the writers.
He also gave 2012 as a reasonably firm date for seeing the project on the
air. It is a one hour format drama show and will air weekly.
As far as the casting news. An audience member asked about Daniel Logan
(who portrayed Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones) and his possible participation
in the show reprising his role. Sansweet remained cryptic, reminded everyone
that no major casting deals have been made with anyone but said (and I quote),
"A couple of years ago Rick McCallum said that he would consider it, and I would
expect news from Daniel's camp in the not-too-distant future." He didn't say
what that news would be, but it seemed to me to insinuate that he was the front
runner for the part. Which would please me." |

May The Real Jar
Jar Please Stand Up |
It looks like Jar Jar Binks voiced
by Ahmed Best will be making a return to The Clone
Wars in Season 2. This is according to a quote he posted on Twitter where Ahmed
stated: "Regardless of the jar jar history, I really enjoyed doing clone wars
this week. Big ups lucasfilm!" If you will remember that Ahmed Best voiced
Jar Jar last season, but then was mysteriously replaced and Jar Jar was just not
the same. The fans voiced their dislike for the new voice and perhaps it was
heard. If we have to see Jar Jar at all, let it be Ahmed that brings the
character to life!

New Clone Wars
MMO? |
1up.com has an article stating that with BioWare hard at work
on Star Wars: The Old Republic, it seemed as if Sony's history with Star Wars
MMOs would be just that -- history. But now according to a rumor floated by Ten
Ton Hammer (via Shacknews), it looks like Sony Online Entertainment might not
end with Star Wars Galaxies. An "insider source" says SOE is preparing to build
a new casual-centric Star Wars MMO, most likely based on the Clone Wars
animated series.
Ten Ton Hammer reports that this anonymous source confirmed this rumor at
PAX, where they said SOE will likely use the engine from their popular
browser-based MMO FreeRealms to create the new game. Considering the engine
it'll be using, and since it'll be set in the Clone Wars timeframe, it's likely
that the game will be based on the stylized look of the Clone Wars
animated series. And since the game will be built with a focus on attracting
more casual gamers, it's unlikely it'll be positioned as a direct competitor to
BioWare's highly anticipated The Old Republic.
It all sounds believable enough, especially since LucasArts already has
another Clone Wars-based game in development at Krome Studios. Still, as usual
with rumors, we'll reserve any final judgment until LucasArts or Sony makes it
easy for us, and confirms the news themselves. |
