In the Beginning

The Official Star Wars Site has a great article about the early stages of Episode I. In an unassuming corner of the second disc in the Phantom Menace DVD set is an hour-long documentary film titled simply, "The Beginning." Crafted by documentary filmmaker Jon Shenk, the piece tells the tale of the men and women who dedicated months and years to bring the first episode of the Star Wars saga to the screen.

But the story of "The Beginning" began well before the invention of the DVD format, with an idea that every step in the creation of Episode I should be documented in detail on video, starting with the genesis of the script in 1994.

Head over to the Official Star Wars Site to read the rest of this great article!
