New Star Wars Game Franchise Coming!

LucasArts and Spike TV have announced that there will be some upcoming announcements and World Premiere of the next big Star Wars franchise! Do you remember all the hype about the domain registration and copyrights being selected for Star Wars 1313? Speculation leads me to believe that as many fans of the Star Wars franchise know, ‘CT-1313′ was the name that Boba Fett had during the novel Boba Fett: Maze of Deception. So is this new game going to be about Boba Fett? We will soon find out! See the official announcement below.

Calling all Jedi, Sith lords and Bounty Hunters! Spike TV and Lucasfilm today announced that the network will be airing all six of the “Star Wars” movies throughout Memorial Day weekend beginning tonight, Friday May 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.  The movie marathon airs just days before Spike TV’s plans to exclusively unveil the newest game franchise in the “Star Wars” universe, which will debut at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo.  A first look at this top secret project will be revealed on Thursday, May 31, as a part of the pre-E3 episode of Spike’s hit video game show “GTTV,” followed by the live world gameplay premiere of this new “Star Wars” franchise during the network’s “E3 All Access Live” primetime special on June 4 at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT.

“I am blown away by both the caliber of the team on this project and their bold vision for this new ‘Star Wars’ title,” said Geoff Keighley, Host and Executive Producer, Spike TV’s “E3 All Access Live” special.  “I can’t wait to introduce our viewers to this game and show off the footage that left my jaw on the floor when I first saw it.”

During the GTTV pre-E3 episode, Geoff Keighley travels to San Francisco for exclusive behind-the-scenes access into the LucasArts studio.  GTTV also meets with the LucasArts’ development team to reveal the name and concept behind this game and introduces viewers to the talented artists who are bringing the E3 demo to life.

On June 4, the eve of E3 2012, viewers will get to enjoy the live world gameplay premiere of the new “Star Wars” property during Spike’s “E3 All Access Live” primetime special beginning at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT.  The project’s creative director will join the “All Access” team live in-studio to debut footage of the game and will answer questions from fans in real-time through the show’s interactive and social media hub operated by social media correspondent, Justine Ezarik.

Spike’s “E3 All Access Live” multi-platform special will provide gamers with over 40 gaming exclusives and special guest interviews with more than 17 hours of coverage across multiple platforms, including TV, online, mobile social and more. The live program will feature the industry’s top press conference events, breaking gaming news and announcements, never-before-seen trailers and gameplay footage, exclusive interviews with the biggest names in gaming and entertainment and more.

“GTTV with Geoff Keighley” on Spike TV is a weekly, entertaining and informative magazine-style show that provides viewers with expanded editorial content and an all-new level of interaction online at GameTrailers.com.  Each week, the full high-definition episode is immediately posted to GameTrailers.com and available for download on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network following the on-air broadcast.

Happy Birthday Return of the Jedi

Return of the Jedi was also released on May 25th, so the film is celebrating its 29th birthday. If you are old enough, do you remember when it was Revenge of the Jedi? That seemed so much cooler to me. To celebrate, I have tossed in a Revenge of the Jedi teaser trailer. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Star Wars

It is hard to believe that Star Wars has been in my life for 35 years. I remember going to the theater and being mesmerized in the first few seconds as a young boy to watch the first showing of Star Wars in 1977. I still remember to this day the opening crawl giving me chills! (It sometimes still does) Seeing the Star Destroyer chasing the Rebel Blockade Runner was just ominous at that time. It seemed to go on for ever because it was so large. The introduction of R2-D2 and C-3PO, the first battle sequence, and then the ultimate villain enters ... Darth Vader! The first few minutes of that film really changed the rest of my life in a way I never thought it would. It touched me and many others so deeply to the core that we are still die-hard fans to this day 35 years later. "Star Wars" as it was originally known (Not Episode IV or A New Hope) is to this day still my favorite of all the episodes and I believe it is because of the marking impression it left on my when I was eight. To commemorate the true release of "Star Wars" I have provided you with the original crawl as it looked back in 1977. I usually don't like to say this because it can be seen as nerdy, but today seems fitting. May the Force be with you always!

Ashley Eckstein to Co-Host Course of the Force Lightsaber Relay

Adam Harris sent in an e-mail letting us know that Star Wars fans everywhere have yet another reason to be excited about the inaugural Course of the Force lightsaber relay. Ashley Eckstein, voice of the character Ahsoka Tano in the hit television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will team with Nerdist Industries’ founder Chris Hardwick and the Nerdist Channel’s Alison Haislip to lead legions of Star Wars fans from Santa Monica to San Diego and into San Diego Comic-Con International . The Course of the Force is a five-day relay, July 7-11, for Star Wars enthusiasts to celebrate their love of the Saga. The event is held in partnership with Lucasfilm, Ltd., Nerdist Industries and Octagon to raise proceeds for Make-A-Wish.

“I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing event,” said Eckstein.  “When Course of the Force was first announced I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of it. I am honored to be working with Chris, Alison and Nerdist Industries, and I ask my fellow Star Wars fans to join me for this worthy cause.”

Eckstein currently stars as the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She is also the founder of Her Universe which is the first merchandise line exclusively for female sci-fi fans. Her Universe products include Star Wars and Syfy licensed apparel and accessories.

“Ashley is a glorious addition to the Course of the Force. She is not just an important character on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, she is also a true follower of the Saga. I am but a mere Padawan in comparison to her Jedi mastery,” states Nerdist Industries founder and Course of the Force host Chris Hardwick.

Giving the event a true fan’s touch, Eckstein, Hardwick and Haislip will follow the action from the Course of the Force lead vehicle each day, broadcasting live to fans across the world on StarWars.com  and the Nerdist YouTube channel (youtube.com/nerdist). They will be joined by special guests from the Saga and pop-culture to put on an epic celebration for both the fans in attendance and watching online.

In addition, Eckstein and Hardwick will run quarter-mile legs of the relay. They will be joined by celebrity guests, Make-A-Wish kids and over 300 fans who register online at courseoftheforce.com/registration. One hundred percent of runner proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish chapters of San Diego, Greater Los Angeles, and Orange County and the Inland Empire.

At quarter-mile markers, participants will hand off the official Course of the Force lightsaber to the next runner as they begin their leg of the journey. On July 7, Course of the Force will kick off with an event at the Santa Monica Pier at 10:00 a.m. The relay will start later in the day and end that night at the Redondo Beach Pier. Other planned stops include Huntington Beach Pier, Oceanside and Crystal Pier at Pacific Beach. Instead of running, Monday, July 9 will feature special sponsor promotions, to be announced at a later date. The final day of the inaugural Course of the Force will conclude in San Diego at the Balboa Theatre, with entertainment to cap off the epic journey.
