fans in May.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars #6 (of 6) Written by Henry Gilroy;
Pencils by Scott Hepburn; Inks by Dan Parsons; Cover by Le Tang On sale May
13. 40 pages.
In this thrilling conclusion to "Slaves of the Republic," Anakin Skywalker,
Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano fight to free themselves and the kidnapped
population of Kiros from a life of slavery -- and it's not only the Zygerrian
slavers they must battle . . . Count Dooku has arrived with Asajj Ventress with
hopes of salvaging the new slave trade that has been fueled by Separatist
efforts.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #41 "Dueling
Ambitions" (part 3 of 3) Written by John Jackson Miller; Pencils by Brian
Ching; Colors by Michael Atiyeh; Cover by Dan Scott On sale May 20. 40
pages.
It is championship day at the dueling Open: Zayne struggles to protect his
inept partner in the duels while simultaneously trying to convince the boy's
warrior father that he and his friends have a plan to save them and stop the
slave "farm system." Meanwhile, Gryph and Jarael set the team's plan into
action, doing their best to avoid the duel official's security.
In the conclusion to "Dueling Ambitions," Zayne faces the reality of his
dreams and his future, and Jarael gets a look back at her mysterious past . . .
Star Wars: Dark Times #14 "Blue Harvest" (Part 2 of 5)
Written by Mick Harrison, Pencils and Cover by Douglas Wheatley; Colors by
Dave McCaig On sale May 27. 40 pages.
The miasma of the dark times following the rise of the Empire entangles both
the high and the low. Darth Vader comes to a realization about how short his
future might be if he doesn't follow his master's every command.
While half a galaxy away, Dass Jennir, who has kept his Jedi past a secret
from his employer, discovers that his employer hasn't been completely honest
with him, either. The job Jennir has been hired to do is only part of
what needs to be done, and a Jedi never leaves a job half-finished --
even if it means fighting ten-to-one odds!
Star Wars: Legacy #36 STAR WARS: LEGACY #36 "Renegade"
Written by John Ostrander; Pencils by Omar Francia; Colors by Brad Anderson;
Cover by Sean Cooke On sale May 27. 40 pages.
Gar Stazi's Galactic Alliance fleet joins forces with deposed Emperor Roan
Fel's Imperials in a strike against the Sith Empire. Stazi has his work cut out
for him -- not only must he hold together the shaky coalition, but he has to
make sure that the allies do not lower themselves to their enemies' tactics!
Fleet-versus-fleet action in the Star Wars tradition!
Star Wars Adventures: Princess Leia and the Royal Ransom
Written by Jeremy Barlow; Art by Carlo Soriano On sale July 29; 80 pages

Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewie are racing to deliver vital information
to the Rebel Alliance. But Han allows himself to be distracted with the idea of
earning some fast credits . . . Ignoring pleas from Leia and the threat of
trailing Imperial Star Destroyers, Han makes an unscheduled stop at a hot
smuggling hub to pick up some cargo. Unfortunately, the crate he takes aboard
the Millennium Falcon doesn't contain the kind of contraband he was led
to believe. It's not simple or harmless . . . it's the kidnapped femme fatale
Princess Mi!

Guy Lagacé's
George's Visions |
Today I have updated Guy Lagacé's section entitled
George's
Visions. This is the tenth image for this section and was Guy's vision of
Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Dooku fighting in front of the Solar Sailor in Episode II.
Remember that these scenes were created before we had details of things to come,
so this was strikingly close to what we saw in the movie. Be sure to also see
other great artists in the Featured Artists
section. Enjoy!

Land of the Jawas
Playset |
The Official Star Wars Site has
provided a look back at my first Star Wars playset! (And I still have it!)
This early prototype of Kenner's "Land of the
Jawas" playset differs significantly from the 1979 toy ultimately sold by Kenner
in the United States and Canada, and the alternate version sold by Palitoy the
United Kingdom. The prototype playset base does not have the small cave from the
finished product where R2-D2 can hide, and the lever on this early design is
flat like a popsicle stick and blended to the terrain unlike the knob on the
production toy.
While the cardboard backdrop has the same general shape
and multi-layered cardboard construction, the paint scheme is completely
different from the Kenner and Palitoy backdrops. This is noticeable in places
such as the illuminated lights that only appear on the production toys. Many of
the original features of the concept were retained such as the sandcrawler
treads on the right side of the plastic base.
This original Sandcrawler
prototype is not known to have surfaced in collecting circles today as few
prototypes from this early era have survived. The early design of the Land of
the Jawas is known by collectors from its prominent shots on Kenner's 20-back
action figure cards and early toy catalogs. Be sure to see
the early prototype! |
