Since there is a Star Wars:
Battlefront III theme, today's new video clip comes from Past to Present Online and
is a rough version of the game from 2008 when Free Radical was in charge of
making BFIII before they had financial trouble. Here is what they had to say
about the video.
"Ever since the alpha footage leaked in 2009, Star Wars : Battlefront 3
has been one of the most wanted games. Of course, with Free Radical Design's
closing, we've been left waiting. And waiting. The alpha footage looked so good,
and yet, from my understanding, the game has been completely scrapped and
restarted.
I was lucky enough to get some footage and impressions of the
game. This footage is the best I could get for the time being. Remember, this
game was in an alpha state when it was cancelled. The old leaked footage was
from a Free Radical Design event in November of 2008. I believe that this
footage is from around March - April 2008, so depending on when the old leaked
footage was recorded, it could be up to 8 months older. This footage is also of
the Xbox 360 build. It seems like a quick and dirty port, not optimized at all.
This continues in all aspects of the game, as it continues to say "Exit to
Desktop." Framerates are bad, AI is virtually non-existent, nothing has been bug
tested, it isn't feature complete, the list goes on.
That said, I am
really, really excited to share some of the work from Free Radical. They were a
great development team that hit hard times, so I hope everyone else enjoys the
hard work that they put into this game. Yes, it's early, but to me, having seen
many cancelled games, it was quite promising. Some of the levels are worse than
what is below, and some are better."
Remember this is raw footage from a defunct game from 2008. Not the BFIII I
discussed in the previous post. Enjoy!

Star Wars
Battlefront III News |
Many of you who know me well know
that I am an avid Battlefront gamer. I still play Battlefront II online nearly
every day and love it as much as I did back in 2005. The only other game series
that captured me as much was the X-Wing series of games. On that note there
still seems to be some hope for Battlefront III.
According to eurogamer.net, Star Wars: Battlefront sequel files were hidden
on the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City disc.
"Resident Evil: Raccoon City developer Slant Six was working on a Star
Wars: Battlefront sequel, according to hidden files unearthed on Raccoon City's
disc.
The data (uncovered by BetaGames and posted on NeoGAF) contains
in-progress artwork for a Hoth level, hidden in a folder named "Luke". A
character model showing Luke in his orange pilot jumpsuit is also
viewable.
"It is the morning of the Imperial assault on the Rebel base
on Hoth," reads a chunk of text viewable on the concept art. "The wreckage of a
downed Victory Class Star Destroyer is the setting for one of the first battles
over Echo Base and the future of the Rebellion hangs in the
balance."
The evidence tallies with a Kotaku report from January 2010
stating that the SOCOM developer was working on an online-only Battlefront game.
Simply named Star Wars: Battlefront Online, it was claimed to be in early
pre-production.
The future of the Star Wars: Battlefront series has long
been in question. In 2008 LucasArts reportedly halted work on a fully-fledged
Battlefront 3 after two years of development by UK TimeSplitters studio Free
Radical - a decision which directly proceeded that studio's collapse and buyout
by Crytek.
Evidence uncovered earlier this year suggests Battlefront 3
is now in the works at Legendary: The Box developer Spark Unlimited. Teasing
Star Wars-themed tweets and LinkedIn job descriptions suggested a reveal was not
far, far away."
Now for the images of the long awaited Battlefront III game as they were
found on the disc. I must say that the Hoth Ion Cannon was a stunning scene and
if the game looks anything like that, I am ready to be immersed in the new
Battlefront III world.
