The Battlefront
Saga... Here We Go Again! |
When Battlefront III seemed to die a slow death with us all getting a sneak
peak into a video of the game that was not to be released, a sparkle of hope
came about for the Battlefront Saga. We learned in an article posted here
February 1st this year that Lucasarts and Slant Six Games were working on
Battlefront Online. It is, as the name suggests, planned to be online-only, and
was tentatively slated to appear in 2011.
As it turns out according to Kotaku, 2011 is going to be a very busy release season for
Lucasarts, so they wanted to push Battlefront Online up to be released this
year. It became clear last month that the reality is this could not happen in
the shorter time span. So what is the solution? Lucasarts decides to put the
project "on ice".
So much so that the Slant Six crew that was working on the game has been laid
off as a result! Slant Six managing director Brian Thalken told GameSpot "Our
current project needs do not align with our current staffing levels", and
confirmed that an undisclosed number of developers had been "temporarily" laid
off, in the hopes that they can be re-hired once the studio's workload is able
to support them.
So is this a permanent icing for Battlefront Online, or will they just move
the game back to 2012? Only time will tell, but if the history of the franchise
is any indication, don't expect Battlefront Online to ever see the light of
day. |

Anna Graves As
Bounty Hunter Sugi |
The Official Star Wars Site has
provided a great interview with Anna Graves, the voice of the Bounty Hunter Sugi
and Duchess Satine. If there's one thing that can be expected of a bounty hunter
in the Star Wars galaxy, it's the unexpected.
Anna Graves, who voices the
role of Sugi for "Bounty Hunters", returns to The Clone Wars after her memorable
performance as the Duchess Satine from the Mandalore episodes -- fitting, given
the characters both share a penchant for grit and tenacity in the face of
conflict. Be sure to read the entire article.

This video features the bounty
Hunter Embo from Star Wars The Clone Wars Episode 17 Bounty Hunters. He was
really a great character and was originally supposed to die in this episode. I
am glad the crew convinced Dave Filoni to keep him around so we might get to see
him again in a future episode. His introduction gave me the same feeling that I
got back in 1980 when Boba Fett was introduced during The Empire Strikes Back.
Enjoy!

Gamics In The
News |
Our friend Nathan Ciprick who has
provided the Star Wars Gamics to this site is in the
news. The Globe and
Mail has provided an in-depth article about Nathan and his Gamics.
The term "gamics" was coined by Toronto resident Nathan
Ciprick. He established one of the first websites dedicated to gamics,
www.gamics.com, two years ago.
"Star Wars Galaxies was what gave me the idea," said Mr.
Ciprick.
Mr. Ciprick compares the process of writing a gamic to
writing a script for a low-budget film. "You know you have a limit on the
locations and characters, so you have to write something tailored to what you
can work with," Mr. Ciprick said.
Mr. Ciprick said his experiences with the industry has been
equally positive. "LucasArts put me in their newsletter to show people my
gamic."
Congratulations Nathan! Be sure to read the entire article. |

New Star Wars
Animated Series Confirmed |
The Official Star Wars Site has
provided confirmation of a new animated Star Wars series!
Untitled Animated Star Wars Project Will Explore the Universe from
a New Perspective, Blending Wry Comedy and Irreverent Fun
Lucasfilm Animation is currently developing an all-new animated Star
Wars series, focusing its efforts on the comedic aspects of the "galaxy far,
far away." Featuring creative involvement from Seth Green and Matthew Senreich,
creators and executive producers of the Emmy and Annie Award-winning Robot
Chicken, as well as writing from The Daily Show's Brendan Hay, the
series will look at the Saga's characters with a playful and irreverent tone.
The series will be produced by Daytime Emmy and Gemini Award-winner Jennifer
Hill (The Backyardigans), and directed by Emmy-nominated Todd Grimes
(Back at the Barnyard).
"There are so many stories taking place in the Star Wars universe, and
they don't all have to focus on the fate of the galaxy," said Grimes. "We're
looking at Star Wars from a new perspective; this will be a glimpse at
how the rest of the galaxy is affected by the events of the Saga. There's a lot
of humor to be mined from that."
"The Star Wars universe is so dense and rich; it's crazy to think that
there aren't normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined," said
Green. "And it's even crazier to think of what those problems might be, since
it's all set in a galaxy far, far away. What do these characters do when they're
not overthrowing Empires?"
Said Senreich, "We're going to pull back the curtain of some of those
behind-the-scenes shenanigans. It's going to appeal to all ages, the way Star
Wars should -- but there'll be plenty buried under the surface, as well. As
Obi-Wan might say, 'it all depends on your point of view'." |

This video is a preview for
Episode 17 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2 and is entitled Bounty Hunters.
Be sure to catch this episode Friday night at 9:00pm ET/PT on the Cartoon
Network. I thought it was a very good episode, but the best part to me is the
new Bounty Hunter named Embo. He is the one with the trash can lid had. He
totally rocks! Enjoy!
Synopsis: Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka form an uneasy
partnership with four deadly bounty hunters to help protect a local farmer from
Hondo Ohnaka and his band of pirates. |

Temporarily
Suspended/Corrected |
Sorry for the site being down half
the day. My host, PowWeb had
stated I was using to many resources. So much for the "Unlimited" quote they
have. They can just shut you down if your site is to large. I have been with
this company for 5 years and that didn't matter. I was able to find some older
files and some things I had planned on providing and the future to delete.
Hopefully, there will not be any broken links. So, if I can get Galactic Voyage
to limp through this billing cycle, I will try another host that may not shut
you down for being "to large." My recommendation... If you are looking to host a
few pages with them you will be fine. If you have plans on a large website,
forget it! Do not choose this host. They have become slow and unaccommodating
for what you purchase. I guess that is why you have to pay a year in advance! So
they can try to steal your money. Oh... And this is NOT an April Fool's Day
joke. I guess I am the fool. |
