Star Wars
Weekends Posters |
The Official Star Wars Site has a great article about posters for
the Star Wars Weekends. Strictly for eyes only, Disney has devised a set of
whimsical "backstage" posters to promote awareness of 2009's Star Wars Weekends
event among employees, images not generally made available to the public (such a
shame!). They also have images from 2006 and 2007. Be sure to see
all these great images!

Star Wars
Celebration |
Do you remember 1999? The anticipation that Star
Wars was finally back!?!? Perhaps it was your first experience with Star Wars,
or at least seeing it on the big screen. The Official Star Wars Site has a great article about the very
first Star Wars Celebration.
It's hard to believe, but it has been 10 years since the first Star
Wars Celebration, held on April 30 through May 2 in 1999 in Denver,
Colorado. The reason for this first party was obvious -- the impending release
of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. But in retrospect, that first
Celebration has come to embody more than a single film's release.
It was the start of a resurgence of Star Wars fandom, a perfect storm
of passionate fans and burgeoning technology that allowed Star Wars
enthusiasts worldwide to connect and share in celebrating the saga. They take a
look back at how thing were and found some special treats for you to enjoy. Be
sure to read the entire article about this historic
event. |

1979 Patrol
Dewback |
The Official Star Wars Site has an article about the 1979 Patrol
Dewback. The Dewback creature, which is only seen briefly in a couple of scenes
in the original Star Wars: A New Hope, enabled Kenner to introduce
mid-range price point accessories for the extremely popular Star Wars
small action figure line. Be sure to read
the entire article where they feature the original prototype that has
distinctive features missing from the production toy.

Bea Arthur Passes
Away |
Over the weekend, Star Wars lost
another of its own, but you may have been unaware she was ever involved. Bea
Arthur, one of the stars of the well known show The Golden Girls died at home at
the age of 86 after a long battle against cancer. Bea also played Ackmena in the
Star Wars Holiday Special back in
1978 that was only shown to the public one time. She played the owner of a
cantina bar that featured many familiar faces from the original Star Wars
cantina. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult
time.
