New Book Entitled
Death Star |
The Official Star Wars
Site has announced a new book entitled Death Star by Michael Reaves
and Steve Perry. The Death Star's name says it all, with bone-chilling accuracy.
It is a virtual world unto itself -- equipped with uncanny power for a
singularly brutal purpose: to obliterate entire planets in the blink of an eye.
Its annihilation of the planet Alderaan lives in infamy. And its own ultimate
destruction, at the hands of Luke Skywalker, is the stuff of legend. But what is
the whole story, and who are the players, behind the creation of this
world-killing satellite of doom?
The near extermination of the Jedi order cleared the way for Palpatine --
power-hungry Senator and Sith Lord -- to seize control of the Republic, declare
himself Emperor, and usher in a fearsome, totalitarian regime. But even with the
dreaded Darth Vader to enforce his sinister will, the threat of rebellion still
looms. And the Emperor knows that only abject fear -- and the ability to punish
dissent with devastating consequences -- can ensure his unchallenged control of
the galaxy. Enter ambitious and ruthless government official Wilhuff Tarkin,
architect of the Emperor's terrifying dream come true.
But from inception to completion, construction of the unprecedented Death
Star is awash in the intrigues, hidden agendas, unexpected revelations, and
daring gambits of those involved on every level. The brightest minds and boldest
egos, the most ambitious and corrupt, the desperate and the devious, all have a
stake in the Death Star and its potential to control the fate of the galaxy.
Soldiers and slaves, loyalists and Rebels, spies and avengers, the innocent
and the evil -- all their paths and fates will cross and intertwine as the Death
Star moves from its maiden voyage to its final showdown and a shadowy chapter of
Star Wars history is stunningly illuminated in a thrilling, unforgettable
adventure.
Star Wars: Death Star is by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry, with cover
art by John Harris. It will be available in hardcover from Del Rey Books this
Fall. |

Guy Lagacé's
Climactic Battlescenes |
Today I have updated Guy Lagacé's
Climactic
Battlescenes with another of his scenes. This was the eighth in the series
for this section. Remember that these images were his vision of scenes from
movies that had not been created. This image was Guy's take on a battle between
Obi-Wan and Darth Maul on Geonosis. Before much information came out about
Attack of the Clones, there were rumors that Darth Maul would be back again and
that he might have been a clone of the original Sith apprentice who was cut in
half during the fight with Obi-Wan during The Phantom Menace. Be sure to also
see other great artists in the Featured
Artists section. Enjoy!
Note: I am missing several pieces or have smaller
versions! If you have any Guy Lagacé art, please send it to Jedi Power to be included in
these galleries! |

You Can Now
Recruit Adds For StarWars.com |
The Official Star Wars Site has asked for your help to choose adds
that will be displayed on their site. Are you kidding me?!?!? I had a little
rant on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 about how our benefits are dwindling as
Hyperspace members and advertisements were one of my problems with it. Now they
are asking me to help send them ideas of companies and or products that would be
a "good fit" with their site? Please!! I don't think so. You want me to pay good
money to belong to "the club" and then not only do you take the benefit of
having no adds away from me, but now you want me to help you choose adds?!?!?
Hyperspace had better get its groove on our they are going to lose yet another
loyal Star Wars fan. At least at their site. If you are really interested, you can read all about it if you like. |

Topps Star Wars:
30th Anniversary Trading Card Set |
The Official Star Wars Site has provided our first bit of
information about the upcoming Topps Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Trading
Card Set due to hit stores in June.
"The set includes 120 base cards spanning all six movies, TV movies and
appearances, deleted scenes, fan films and some other little treats," Topps
Editor David Waldeck reveals. "We've got some really nice autographs lined up
too. All our inserts this time around will revolve around A New Hope.
This includes the Artist Sketch and Autograph Cards, and Triptych Puzzle Cards
which outline the themes of Episode IV and how they resonate through the rest of
the saga. We're also doing some vintage-style magnets using artwork from the
1977 cards and Animation Cel cards. Both of those will be exclusive to retail
stores."
"We're really digging through the archives to show images that have never
been seen, which has been so much fun," Waldeck adds. "Everything about the
cards just looks awesome, and there is such a classic '77 feel to them. The
cards themselves look like they could be a part of Star Wars.
Collecting original art is easy to do for fans with the popular Topps cards
from the new highly-anticipated Artist Sketch Cards. Original art sketch cards,
seen in previously in the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars:
Clone Wars and Star Wars Heritage card sets, proved enormously
appealing to passionate art enthusiasts and card collectors. The Artist Sketch
Cards or Autographs can be found one per box in the 30th Anniversary Hobby
packs.
"For this set, we've got a good number of tremendously talented artists who
have yet to to do Star Wars Sketch Cards for us, and some who have yet to
work on an official Star Wars project at all," Waldeck says. "I think
fans will be extremely happy with our lineup this time out."
Look for Artist Sketch Cards from Cat Staggs, Matt Busch, Katie Cook, Allison
Sohn, Len Bellinger, Dave Dorman, Adam Hughes, Mark Brooks, Juan Carlos Ramos,
Grant Gould, Jessica Hickman, Phil Noto, Otis Frampton, Ingrid Hardy, Amy
Provonost, Brandon McKinney, Cynthia Cummens, Davidé Fabbri, Joe Corroney,
Justin Chung, Kevin Graham, Marc Wolfe, Mike Lily, Rafael Kayanan,
Robert Teranishi, Russell Walks, Sarah Wilkinson and Sean Pence.
We hope to have more from Kevin in the near future! |
