"Now the circle is complete"

The Official Star Wars Site has announced that yesterday morning, in a darkened screening room at Industrial Light & Magic, the assembled audience applauded as the last visual effects shot for Episode II was approved by George Lucas.

The screening session included final shots from the visual effects units of supervisors Pablo Helman, John Knoll and Ben Snow. Helman's crew delivered scenes of an amber-hued Jedi Temple at dusk; Knoll's unit delivered a frenzied melee of Jedi, droids and creatures.

Snow's unit completed sequences from an immense ground battle. The last shot was of gigantic fuel cylinders, knocked loose from a Techno Union starship, crashing into fleeing battle droids as Republic gunships rain down missile volleys from the golden skies.

"Thank you, guys," said an appreciative Lucas to the Visual Effects Supervisors. "Everything was fantastic... you want to do another one?"
