100 Days of Waiting

On Tuesday, April 9, 2002 John Guth and Jeff Tweiten of the Seattle Star Wars Society will have waited 100 day outside the Seattle Cinerama movie theatre for the new Star Wars movie "Attack of the Clones" which will be released on May 16, 2002.

Their wait began on January 1, 2002.  It stared with two chairs on a sidewalk and slowly progressed to at 10x20 tent with heat, TV, entertainment, wireless internet, storage and many, many visitors.

Over the course of the past 100 days:

* Over 2,000 visitors have stopped by to visit
* Over 300 radio interviews worldwide
* Interviews and mentions in over 150 publications worldwide
* 32 live and recorded TV interviews including CNN, the Today Show and Good Morning America to name a few
* Countless internet site interviews and postings

It became very clear that the entire world had some interest in two guys waiting outside of a movie theatre for Star Wars.

Reactions to this wait have been mixed.  Everything from "get a life," to "where do you go to the bathroom" have been thrown their way, but both guys admit, 95% of all reactions have been very supportive.

Others have decided to follow the Seattle Star Wars Society's lead and line up for Star Wars in other cities.  Star Wars fans in LA have decided to join in on the wait and line up outside of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.  Many other fans in other cities will follow.

"This 100th day is a big day for us" say John, one of the patient waiters and President of the Seattle Star Wars Society.  "It big because now we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and soon many other Star Wars fan around the Northwest will start to join in on the fun!"

Once May 16, 2002 comes, the Seattle Star Wars Society will call this project to a close and will then hold the official World record title in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest wait outside of a theatre for a movie.
