Mallatobuck is Chewbacca's wife, a shorter, heavy-set, kind, understanding homebody. Mallatobuck enjoys cooking, whether it's preparing a large hearty meal of Bantha Surprise, or baking up a batch of famous Wookiee Oookies. She worries constantly about her mischievous son Lumpy, while waiting patiently for her husband's return from his long star voyages.

Mallatobuck and Chewbacca met during the times of the Old Republic, when Chewbacca rescued her from Trandoshan slavers. Chewbacca himself ends up enslaved by the Empire, however. He is rescued by Han Solo in a risky confrontation, and Solo becomes his closest friend. He swears a life debt to Solo, and accompanies him from that point on.

He and Solo visit Kashyyyk, where he is reunited with Mallatobuck. He proposes, and they are married. Han assumes that Chewbacca will stay with his wife and child, but Wookiees consider it a great dishonor to go back on a life debt, and both Mallatobuck and Chewbacca are horrified by the suggestion that he would do so because of his marriage. Despite this, Chewbacca returned once a year to celebrate Life Day with Mallatobuck and their son, Lumpawarrump who was born nine years before the Battle of Yavin.
