The Gand, like the Rodians, honored the tradition of bounty hunting. The name used by the Gand for this trade is "findsmen." The Gand findsmen were extremely superstitious and worshiped the mists that hid their planet, and performed ancient rituals.

Zuckuss was one of the finest findsmen his home world had ever produced. Because of his skills and insights to his quarries Zuckuss was called "the uncanny one." With a breathing mask, which filtered out deadly gases (ex. oxygen), battle armor that he wore under his robe and a computer/sensors hung around his neck he would travel across any terrain or environment in order to capture his quarry.

Most of the time Zuckuss worked alone but after being hired and paired with 4-Lom by Jabba the Hutt, Zuckuss seemed to have found a missing piece in his hunting skill, the analytical ability. Zuckuss and 4-Lom remained Jabba's favorite bounty hunters for quite some time.

A year after the destruction of the first Death Star, Jabba sent Zuckuss and 4-Lom to Darth Vader's super star destroyer, the Executor, where Darth Vader offered a bounty on Han Solo. However, due to the competition for the same bounty by four other hunters (Boba Fett, Dengar, IG-88, and Bossk) the did not collect the bounty. Zuckuss lost one of the biggest bounties of his career but that didn't concern him as much as keeping the Gand tradition of the findsmen alive.

Following the Battle of Hoth, he and 4-LOM severely damaged a Rebel transport, the Bright Hope, but they reconsidered and helped rescue and evacuate ninety Rebels to the planet Darlyn Boda.  In exchange for aiding the Rebels, Zuckuss received advanced medical treatment that healed his lungs.  According to some sources, the two bounty hunters then joined forces with the Rebels as covert operatives.
