R-3PO is a copper-colored protocol droid that served the Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. R-3PO was programmed to search out and identify espionage droids which the Empire had infiltrated into Alliance bases. R-3PO was stationed at Echo Base, on Hoth. It had the words "Thank the Maker" tattooed on its left posterior plating.
