Galactic Voyage Featured Fanatic!

Name: Greg Reich

Are you a regular at Galactic Voyage and if not, how did you hear about the Galactic Fanatic?

I just discovered your great site while surfing for Episode 2 pictures.

How did you get involved with Star Wars?

I saw A New Hope in the theater on it's original release in 1977.My brother Tim and I began collecting the original blue trading cards before we even saw the movie. We convinced our parents to take all of us to see it.

Which Star Wars movie is your favorite and why?

My favorite is the first ANH. It was a fresh look at fairy tales and science fiction. Up until Star Wars we only had TV shows and comic books. Most of the movies were for adults, and there were not many heroes except of course the astronauts of Apollo, and Skylab.

Which group are you the biggest fan of (Sith, Jedi, Bounty Hunters, etc.) and why?

I like the Jedi Knights. They have the protect, and serve code, carry ancient weapons, and battle for righteousness.

What are your most treasured Star Wars items?

When I was in college I made a Boba Fett costume to wear on a date to a Halloween Party. It had the backpack complete with lights to simulate the rockets, arm bands with darts, and of course the helmet with a retractable antenna.

What is your greatest Star Wars moment? (Ex. First in line to see Star Wars, Had lunch with Carrie Fisher, etc.)

When my family all went to see the original movie, we all got separated because of the scarce seating. I ended up by my self 2 rows from the front of the screen. I sat there unmoving for 2 hours enthralled with every frame. Wow!!!

What other hobbies or Star Wars facts would you like to tell us about?

Because of Star Wars, I wanted to know everything about how movies are made.
I've even spent years building my own experimental working Droids, costumes, puppets and sets. Anamatronics, model making, and film making is fascinating as well as computers, and technology. I now teach my own children about special effects and co-lead a den of cubscouts. We all benefit from using our imagination.
