Painting by Numbers

"Wam Bam Thankya Zam"

Of the older paintings this is one that I liked a bit more than the others because of it's sense of tension, the colors and dramatic lighting. Some things could be fixed, but then most of these paintings could have something in them fixed too. I could go 'special edition' on all of them and touch them up, but I think I might go mad if I did.

1. Is the direct inspiration for the painting, along with what I'd been reading about the purported story on a quality deceased website called Aldera.net (think that's the name). The photo appears to be a scan from Star Wars Insider magazine.

2. I think I started with the pose of Zam Wessel for this painting. The first few looked too much like artistic poses for the context of the picture.

2a. With these the basic pose has been found; a more exhausted and vulnerable one. There were only a couple of variations on Anakin's pose; the different one (with back more visible) in this image was too tentative for what I thought would be a more head-strong Anakin. The stance of Obi-Wan came to me instantly and was pretty much set from the first drawing.

2b. Is a more detailed rendering of the Zam and Anakin poses and is of the same page as 2&2a but in grey-scale. The grey-scale cleans the image up quite a bit, plus I think it was scanned in a bit more detail.

3. I think this is about the only detail I had for the scene at the time apart from the first image. The wall feature has been combined with #1 even thought it isn't the same feature - well I don't think it is, maybe they changed the color of the lights.

4. Is how it all ended up. Allot of the details of Zam's costume are wrong because I didn't have many when doing the painting; the gun was based on Jango Fett's if I remember rightly. Still like the colors and drama.
