Painting by Numbers

2Tatooine Twilight progressive.jpg (204492 bytes)
"Tatooine Twilight"

This picture is again one of the early paintings and one of the few of those that I liked at the time.

1. This small photo is from another piece of junk-mail; a sportswear catalogue if I remember. The potential of it was very obvious the first time I saw it and eventually I got around to using it.

2. Is the sketch inspired from the photo. Actually number (2) should be another photo; a photo of the background. The photo used for the background was similar to the painted one in the painting, dark with most light coming from the doorways, but from a another angle and the buildings in a different arrangement. I think it was a photo from somewhere near where Star Wars was filmed, Tunisia, and it came from a National Geographic magazine. I can't seem to find a copy of the scan.

3. As you can see is the photo used for reference for the pose of Anakin.

3a & 3b. Are just about the standard of the reference photos I had at the time to base Anakin on. So if you noticed that his costume wasn't quite right in the details now you can see why.

4. We have the final point of the painting. The painting is meant to be dark and gloomy and make you wonder what he is actually doing there. He is alert, defensive, and jumping at the shadows in his mind as a representation of him struggling with his fears. Looking back at what was represented in Episode III it doesn't seem to have been an bad interpretation.
