Daine Jir was a bold and outspoken 501st Legion stormtrooper officer, serving under Darth Vader aboard the Devastator during the hunt for the stolen Death Star plans. 

When the Tantive IV was captured and boarded, Commander Jir was one of the foray team leaders, serving as Vader's aide-de-camp when the Dark Lord boarded the cruiser. Jir believed that holding Princess Leia Organa was "dangerous", and doubted that she would break under interrogation, although Vader shrugged off his skepticism and later promoted the Lieutenant to Commander. What happened to him is unknown, although he probably helped search the ship for the Death Star plans.

His family donated a genetic template for the Imperial stormtrooper development program.
