The Force Is Now Unleashed!

The day is finally here for many of you. The Force is now Unleashed! Homing Beacon #243 gives us the details.

Thirty-one years ago, the first Star Wars movie galvanized audiences around the word, sparking a phenomenon that has spanned generations. With today's release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, one of the most highly anticipated video games of the year, LucasArts proves that the Force is stronger than ever.

Available now on home game systems, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force and casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice," unveiling new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy seen through the eyes of this mysterious new character, who is armed with unprecedented powers.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is not only LucasArts' first internally developed title for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 systems, but also represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and sister company Industrial Light & Magic. The end result is a game authentic to the world in which it is set, unique in its presentation and unforgettable as a Star Wars experience.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed also breaks new ground on these consoles by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies experienced for the first time together: Digital Molecular Matter, by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion. These technologies imbue objects and enemies with the ability to react with incredible realism, bringing depth and richness to the Star Wars galaxy that is unprecedented for a video game, and showcasing the unique blend of storytelling, technology and interactive entertainment that is the hallmark of LucasArts.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is now available in a store near you.

Kessel in Belgium

Sompeetalay our friend from SWORA and webmaster of TeeKay-421 vzw sends in this report:

“This will be a day long remembered” would be Darth Vader’s words about Saturday September 13. On this day, TeeKay-421 announced that the Belgian municipality of Kessel is now known as ‘The Star Wars municipality of Belgium’.

Kessel is a rustic municipality in the province of Antwerp in Belgium. The people of Kessel were enthusiast when TeeKay uttered the idea to make Kessel ‘The Star Wars municipality of Belgium’.

The folks of Rebel Legion Benelux and a lot of fans who were curious or eager to find out what was going to happen, joined the active members of TeeKay, of whom some were wearing their Star Wars-outfit.

Luc Luyten, the local government official of culture in Kessel, opened the happening at the old townhouse of Kessel. Julian De Backer of TeeKay said a few words about Kessel in the Star Wars universe before TeeKay gave the deed to the people of Kessel about the ‘The Star Wars municipality of Belgium’. The press was very interested in our little venture and they photos in front of the townhouse and also before a street sign of Kessel.

It was a very interesting day and we met a lot of people who were interested in Star Wars and in our fanclub. In 2009 we will return to Kessel for another adventure and a larger event.

For more, be sure to read all about it! See pictures from the event, read the Press coverage, and see coverage from local Belgian television RTV (starts at +/- 8:20) Thanks Sompeetalay!
