Winter 2005
Comics |
As the year winds down and the
days get shorter, Dark Horse Comics has you covered with new and exciting Star
Wars titles to fill out the winter months. Here's a look ahead at some of their
offerings.
Before the months get chillier, you can visit your local comic
store now and get a special bundle that includes Star Wars: Empire Volume 1 --
Betrayal packaged with an exclusive Gentle Giant Darth Vader Bust-Up. The trade
paperback compiles the first story-arc of the Star Wars: Empire series, where
power hungry Imperial officers plot to betray the Emperor and Darth Vader to
seize control of the Empire. The bust-up, which features Gentle Giant's
trademark precision sculpting, measures 2-3" tall.
Another bust-up bundle
pairs the Star Wars Infinities: A New Hope trade paperback -- which tells the
speculative tale of a galaxy where Luke's proton torpedo volley didn't destroy
the Death Star -- with an exclusive Gentle Giant Stormtrooper Bust-Up. It is
also available now.
Now that the Star Wars prequel trilogy is complete,
Dark Horse is making available a special slipcase featuring the trilogy of
adaptations. The trade paperback versions of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the
Clones and Revenge of the Sith are gathered here. This set is scheduled for
release on November 16.
The fighting is fierce and the flying is faster
in the whiz-bang conclusion to new X-wing series, Star Wars: X-Wing -- Rogue
Leader. In the third and final issue, Imperial terrorists have landed a
devastating strike on Wedge Antilles' home planet and captured a member of Rogue
Squadron. Now, Wedge and the rest of the Rogues are hot on their trail,
determined to find their friend and bring these Imperial thugs to
justice.
Star Wars: X-Wing -- Rogue Leader #3 is by Haden Blackman, Tomás
Giorello, Michael Atiyeh and Gary Erskine. It is scheduled for release on
November 23.
Palpatine's Order 66 changed everything. As Jedi are
slaughtered across the galaxy, one has managed to cheat fate -- but for how
long? Badly wounded by the same troops he just led to victory, Master Quinlan
Vos retreats into the jungle wilderness of the Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk. As
the clones close in, Vos must choose -- stay and fight, or run and put those he
loves in danger of the newborn Empire's wrath?
Star Wars: Republic #83 is
by John Ostrander, Jan Duursema, Dan Parsons and Brad Anderson. It is scheduled
for release on November 30.
The tale of Imperial Lieutenant Janek Sunber
continues to unfold in Star Wars: Empire. In issue #39 (scheduled for release on
November 30), an undercover Rebel strike force has infiltrated the Imperial base
on Kalist VI on a vital mission. Everything has gone according to plan, but the
one eventuality for which no one could have prepared is the presence of Sunber
-- or how his presence will impact the Rebel team.
Duty to the Empire has
asked much of Sunber and offered little in return, but he has never wavered in
his dedication. Now, a shocking discovery has landed him at a crossroads, and
the time has come for him to decide whether to devote himself to order, or
justice.
In issue #40, the fifth and final chapter of "The Wrong Side of
the War" story arc, the Rebel infiltrators are determined to follow through with
their mission no matter what the cost. As Imperial forces close in swiftly and
mercilessly, will this band of Rebels need to be rescued from their own rescue
mission? Star Wars: Empire #40 is scheduled for release on December 21. These
issues feature the talents of Welles Hartley, Davidé Fabbri, Christian Dalla
Vecchia, and David Michael Beck.
This December you'll see the Dark Lord
in action. After Order 66, a small band of Jedi have agreed to meet and discuss
what should be done to oppose the Empire and its Sith Lords. However, the Empire
is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might
bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Prepare for
Jedi versus Sith action unlike any seen since the Old Republic in this special
one-shot follow-up to Revenge of the Sith! Featuring the talents of John
Ostrander, Doug Wheatley, Chris Chuckry and Adam Hughes, Star Wars: Purge goes
on sale December 28.
Dark Horse presents The Star Wars Comics Companion,
the definitive guide to Star Wars comics, complete with in-depth coverage all
the way through Episode III! Written by Ryder Windham, Star Wars expert, and
densely illustrated with both brand-new art and classic images from the comics,
this chronological compendium contains everything you need to be the ultimate
Star Wars reader in-the-know. It is scheduled for release on December
28.
Also in December, the four-issue mini-series, Star Wars: General
Grievous is compiled into a trade paperback. This tale of treachery and genocide
leads up to the events of Episode III. Before his all-out battle with Obi-Wan
Kenobi, the latest Star Wars villain took on an entire alien species! This book
features the talents of Chuck Dixon, Rick Leonardi, Mark Pennington, Lucas
Marangon and Michelle Madson. It is scheduled for release on December
28.
And finally, looking ahead to January 2006, complete your Star Wars
Tales collection with the final trade paperback release of the anthology series.
Star Wars Tales Volume 6 has stories that cover every era in the Star Wars
timeline, from tales of the Old Republic to adventures set during The New Jedi
Order. It features the talents of Rob Williams, Thomas Andrews, Ian Edginton,
Lucas Marangon, Brandon Badeux, Cully Hamner, Michel Lacombe, Steve Pugh and
more. It is scheduled for release on January 25. |

Tori Amos
Concert |
Captain Sith Park chimes in again with some Star Wars related concert
news.
"Tori Amos played in Cleveland on Aug 30th at the Tower City Ampitheatre, It
will be her little girl's 5th Birth Day tomorrow (Sept. 5th) but she celebrated
it on August 30th. For the Cleveland concert she announced that it would be a
'Star Wars' themed concert night (Tori also told the audience about this at the
Sun, Aug 28th Rochester Hills. MI show!) Tori, her daughter Natasha, her Crew
and what-ever concert-goers that wanted to were asked to also dress up."
Here is a brief review of the Star Wars related portion of the show as well
as some pictures.
Mike (www.thedent.com):
"We hit the road for Cleveland! It rained very steadily the whole
way ... we were concerned because Tori Amos was playing an outdoor venue.
Strangely enough, the Tower City Amphitheater is completely covered by a huge
tent -- it is very bizarre -- but we were totally dry. We ended up missing the 2
opening acts and got there right before Tori took the stage. As we were shown to
our second row seats we could hear they were playing Star Wars music as the
interlude. About 5 minutes after we sat down the lights when down and Tori came
out. Since the concert was a Star Wars birthday party for her daughter (who
turns 5 on September 5th) Tori came out on stage dressed as Princess Leia! Since
the venue allowed cameras I was able to get some really great shots of the whole
show. After a couple songs, Tori brought her daughter, Natashya, out on stage to
say hello to the audience. She was dressed completely as Queen Amidala ... she
looked soooo cute! Tash was very shy but she thanked us for coming to her
"pah-ty" (in a cute little English accent) and then she threw out some Star Wars
toys to the audience. Then Tori lead the audience in singing Happy Birthday to
Natasha-Queen-Padme-Amidala ... it was SOOOO CUTE! The whole show was excellent,
Tori chose some amazing songs to perform."
Special thanks goes to Captain Sith Park for keeping us in up to
date with Star Wars related news! |

Challenge Darth
Vader |
I stumbled onto a website called
www.sithsense.com that is
sponsored by Burger King. Many of you may have seen this before, but it was my
first time to see it. You get to confront Darth Vader and he asks you a series
of questions to read your mind. It is very entertaining and he has been right on
each time. I haven't tried to answer the questions with a lie to see if it
confuses him or not. I will leave that up to you! It is definitely worth a
look! |
