The Golden Age Of Star Wars Continues With New Movies And TV Shows
During the latest Disney Earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed
that “We are developing not just one, but a few Star Wars series
specifically for the Disney direct to consumer app. We’ve mentioned that
and we are close to being able to reveal at least one of the interties
that is developing that for us. Because the deal isn’t completely
closed, we can’t be specific about that,” he said during an earnings
call Tuesday. “I think you’ll find the level of talent … on the
television front will be rather significant as well.”
So we have been hearing about a live-action TV show and now that
Rebels is winding down, you can be sure that Dave Filoni and his crew
are already working on the next animated series. The thought would be
that it might take place during the Sequel Trilogy era.
Also, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have
been signed on to write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.
These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga
and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson,
writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that: "They are focused on a point in
time in the Star Wars mythology and taking it from there.”
Based on the work they have done before, could that "point in time" be the Old
Republic era? It would seem to fit in their wheelhouse nicely. We will see!
Collider's Star Wars: The Last Jedi Interview With Rian Johnson
Collider sat down for an interview with Rian Johnson about
making Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The writer-director answers questions
for almost 70-minutes where he spoke in-depth about the making of the
movie. Not only did he discuss everything from the writing process to
deleted scenes, he also answered a number of questions from the fans in
attendance, like where he got the inspiration for Rose’s necklace and
why Captain Phasma "got the Boba Fett treatment."
