3D Clone Wars
Series Update |
Jim Hill Media is back again with more information regarding
Star Wars and Disney. Again, this is all rumor and speculation at this point.
George Lucas is currently scheduled to meet with senior officials at Walt
Disney Imagineering in late September. Reportedly to review the work that's been
done to date on "Star Tours 2.0" as well as to talk about how Lucasfilm's
presence at Disneyland could be expanded.
Disney allegedly wants to turn
a large portion of Tomorrowland over to George Lucas. So that a set of new "Star
Wars" -themed shops & restaurants (And -- more importantly -- at least one
new major attraction) can be added to this side of the theme park.
Disney
still wants to cut a deal for the broadcast rights to Lucas's live-action "Star
Wars" TV series with an eye toward airing this program on ABC and ABC Family.
But that show is at least a year away from officially going into production. The
last he heard, George's people were still interviewing writers and looking for a
showrunner.
Whereas that computer-animated "Clone Wars" series ... That's
in production right now and could be available for airing as soon as the Fall of
2008. And that's the sort of show that Mickey could easily cross-platform at
ABC, ABC Family, the Disney Channel and Toon Disney.
And given that Lucas
absolutely loves the Disney theme parks (He and his family actually visited
Disneyland back on July 19, 1955. The second day that this theme park was open
to the public) ... What Mouse House management is hoping is -- if they invite
George to be much more hands-on about how his "Star Wars" characters are used in
the parks from here on in ... Well, that might be enough to give their company
an edge when it comes to acquiring the broadcast rights to "Clone Wars" and/or
that "Star Wars" live-action series.
Disney has some very stiff
competition when it comes to that "Clone Wars" TV series. With both Fox and HBO
having allegedly already put in extremely competitive bids for the broadcast
rights for this show.
Disney seems to be wanting to sweeten the deal for George. Will it be enough
to sway the Jedi Master? Be sure to read the entire article for more! |

"I want them alive. No disintegrations!" Darth Vader to
Boba Fett, Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back
Boba Fett's inception is
almost as mysterious as his character. What is known is that the unique
Mandalorian armor he wears was designed and then fabricated in England well in
advance of the filming of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes
Back.
To create the Master Replicas Boba Fett helmet our engineers laser
scanned an original helmet in the archives, perfectly capturing the shape and
subtle nuances of the face and dome and output a master pattern from which all
our production molds were made.
Over the years the "hero" helmet has
sustained additional scuffs and scratches from its many world tours and
exhibitions. Using extensive photographic reference, we worked with a talented
artist to recreate the "hero" helmet paint scheme as it appeared in 1979 when it
first went before cameras at Elstree Studios.
Fiberglass
Construction The LED's in the Range Finder blinks when it is lowered. Each
helmet is fully lined and padded interior with a see-through, tinted "bubble"

Luke’s Lightsaber
In A Galaxy Not So Far Away |
The Star Wars Blog has
announced that as Star Wars celebrates its 30th Anniversary, Luke Skywalker’s
original Jedi lightsaber will head into space with NASA astronauts on the space
shuttle Discovery in October. Chewbacca officially handed the lightsaber over to
NASA’s Space Center Houston during a ceremony at the Oakland International
Airport, Aug. 27, 2007.
The ceremony included characters from a galaxy far, far away including Boba
Fett, Jango Fett and X-Wing pilots, Jedi and Stormtroopers. This was followed by
a spectacular departure aboard a Southwest Airlines flight as Chewbacca and his
galactic friends help push back the airplane on the tarmac.
Once the flight landed in Houston, Stormtroopers helped escort the lightsaber
off the plane as R2-D2 and other famous Star Wars characters kicked-off the
second half of the celebration in William P. Hobby Airport. The fanfare
concluded outside the baggage claim where the lightsaber will be transported by
Hummer with an official City of Webster police escort to NASA’s Space Center
Houston where it will be on display through September 4. |

Obi-Wan Doesn't
Feel The Force |
PR-inside.com has reported
that the Scottish actor Ewan McGregor regrets filming the Star Wars movies -
branding the sci-fi films the worst work he has done. The 36-year-old actor made
his shock comment during a recent trip to a Scottish hospice, when the father of
a young patient suffering from an incurable condition asked him about his best
and worst movies.
Hamish Glasgow, whose three-year-old son Hamish suffers from rare Hoyeraal
Hreidarsson, says, "Ewan was really down to earth. He was great with
Cameron. He was really relaxed and you could tell he's a really good dad. "He
said the favourite movie he'd done was Trainspotting and the one he liked least
was Star Wars." McGregor starred in 1999's The Phantom Menace, 2002s Attack Of
The Clones and 2005s Revenge Of The Sith.
I might take this one with a grain of salt. Ewan said he liked Star Wars the
least, but I think the reporter branded it the worst work he has done. I am sure
filming the Star Wars movies are very difficult and disjointed with all the
green and blue screen scenes. The dialogue is probably also not the best lines
he has ever had to learn. They made it seem like Ewan hated it, but I have a
feeling that it is truly not like that. My two cents worth. |
