Wonder Bread Cards
This is the Wonder Bread series of vintage Star Wars cards from 1977 and the cards feature a black border. One of these promotional trading cards could be found in a loaf of Wonder Bread and there were 16 cards in all.
A mail away offer was also available to get a mint set of the cards (that had never been in the bread) along with a small wallet to hold keep them in.
Kids like me encouraged our parents to buy Wonder Bread in order to get these very cool cards. These cards were the first Star Wars cards I collected and are my most deeply treasured cards along with the Blue Series 1 cards by Topps. Seeing these early images still provides me with some of the excitement I felt in the 70's about the Star Wars film as a kid.
