Brea and Senni Tonnika wereidentical twins and con artists. The beautiful sisters were interested in only one thing, separating men from their money. They were from the Kiffu species, looking almost human in every way.

The sisters were abandoned at an early age and were taken in and raised by colonists on Kiffex. Even as children, they were a handful; wild, curious, and more than willing to use their natural charm to manipulate the colonists. As they grew older, their schemes grew larger and more elaborate, until finally they were skilled enough to escape the sleepy colony world. 

Telling a saddening story of abuse and mistreatment by the locals, they escaped from Kiffex with the help of a gullible young scout. They set about working their trade amongst the wealthy denizens of the galaxy, often using the combined name "Bresenni" to hide the fact that there were two of them. Their notoriety grew as they stripped many of the wealthiest men in the galaxy of the bulk of their possessions, keeping abreast of the galactic social scene and prowling it for suitable prey to exploit. 

Among their most famous marks included Lando Calrissian. The smuggler Han Solo had come to know the sisters through his dealings with Jabba the Hutt, and though he enjoyed their company, he knew better than to trust them; however, while discussing gambling with the women, Solo recalled a number of pranks Calrissian had played on him and decided that the Tonnika twins would be ideal for a counter-scam. Calrissian's own reputation as a con-man was well known, and so Brea and Senni saw him as a true challenge. Solo arranged for Calrissian to meet "Bresenni" in The High Stakes Casino on the planet Balfron. Calrissian and Bresenni became inseparable, but after a month Calrissian became maddened by the fact that she exhibited severe personality shifts. Nonetheless, Calrissian decided to suggest something more permanent to Bresenni, only to be confronted by both Brea and Senni, who presented Calrissian with a holodisk of Solo saying "Hope you had a grand time, Lando old friend. Isn't it amazing how similar they look? But there are differences, as I'm sure you discovered." As Solo's message ended in laughter, Calrissian was at first dejected and angry, but quickly softened. However, he vowed to get even with Solo for the stunt. 

During the events prior to the Battle of Yavin, Brea and Senni conned their way into one of Jabba the Hutt's many parties, but became bored and left. They sought out Grand Moff Argon, from whom they conned twenty-five thousand credits, earning them a death mark from the Imperial officer. 

Unknown to them, the Mistryl Shadow Guards Shada D'ukal and Karoly D'ulin adopted their identities during an operation in the Mos Eisley Cantina, where they were arrested by Imperial agents. The Tonnika sisters themselves eluded capture, despite the efforts of Argon's agents.
