Star Wars Fan Film Network Announced!

Today the Official Site has announced that AtomFilms and starwars.com are joining forces to launch The Star Wars Fan Film Network - giving fans an official online outlet to share their creativity and have fun with Star Wars. AtomFilms is now accepting submissions of Star Wars parodies and documentaries for consideration to showcase on the site. The Star Wars Fan Film Network will launch later this year as a premier spotlight within www.atomfilms.com. Submission information will be available soon at www.starwars.atomfilms.com.

Star Wars has always inspired creativity in its fans around the world. This project provides a creative outlet for amateur filmmakers and animators to showcase their work on an official site. Participants in the Star Wars Fan Film Network will have access to a library of audio clips from Darth Vader breathing to the lightsaber wave and Rebel blaster fire to incorporate into their own original works. As an added incentive to submit their short films for consideration, fan filmmakers whose short films are selected for the network will receive royalty payments based on the advertising and sponsorship revenues generated from the site.

"Lucas Online is interested in supporting amateur filmmakers and engaging fans to share their passion for Star Wars," said Mich Chau, Executive Vice President, Lucasfilm Ltd. "By teaming up with AtomFilms we hope to create an easy-to-find, entertaining site for Star Wars fans to share their creativity and have fun."

"Star Wars is a cultural phenomenon unlike any other in film history," said Scott Roesch, Director of Web Entertainment for AtomFilms. "We are thrilled to be leveraging our online entertainment expertise to create the first official short film outlet for the loyal Star Wars fans."

The official Star Wars Fan Movie Network will launch later this year giving fans an online venue to enjoy new Star Wars parodies and documentaries and interact with the filmmakers and animators behind these original creations.
