Star Wars: Empire

The Official Star Wars Site has provided information about a new comic book series by Dark Horse called Star Wars: Empire that is set during the era of Episodes IV, V, and VI.

The first story arc of Star Wars: Empire is "Betrayal." Scott Allie writes this original story of deception and intrigue in the highest echelons of the Imperial court. The Republic is no more -- the corruption of the Senate and the inefficiencies of the Jedi have been swept away following the turbulent Clone Wars. In its place stands the Galactic Empire, ruled over by two Sith practitioners, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.

Not everyone sees this as an improvement, however. Some believe that the Empire needs to be saved from these two shadowy cultists, and thus a quiet insurrection begins to form. "Betrayal", set shortly before the events of A New Hope, is a tale told in four parts, with interior artwork by Ryan Benjamin and Curtis Arnold and cover art by Brian Horton. The first issue is scheduled for release in September.
